What bugs have entered your home so far this summer?

I’m in my front room and was feeling a little hot so opened my back door (fly net covering but little gap at the bottom). Suddenly heard a very loud buzzing in my ear and a black flying bug darting around the room. I screamed like I was being bloody murdered (my poor neighbours) and my Husband came running in. It was a lovely, quite small, shield-bug 🪲. It’s now safely back outside and my back door is shut! What little guests have you had so far this summer?

p.s. I know I’m a bloody wuss 🤣

Tiny black flies. I think they're fruit flies but, whatever they are, I wish they'd go away. I don't remember this many in previous summers.

Not a bug but I found a giant crab in my kitchen a couple of weeks ago 😱 It scarpered behind the dishwasher and I had to ask my neighbour to retrieve it 😂🦀

A few nights ago I felt something tickling my shoulder, thought it was a mozzie and sleepily slapped it away. Felt it crawling on my arm so put the lamp on and saw a huge centipede next to me 😵 I have never jumped out of bed so quickly in my life 😭

Also now getting 'black and yellow mud daubers' flying into the house looking for somewhere to make a nest, they're like giant gangly wasps 😳

I don't live in the UK BTW 😅

Oh my goodness! You’ve literally had Sebastian the crab causally strolling around your kitchen 🦀 🤣.

The centipede in bed 🤯 that’s literally made me shudder. I’d love to know where you live so I can make sure I never plan a trip there 😜

Oh I’ve had them too. Seems to have lessened since the weathers cooled down though. They are so irritating aren’t they?!

We’ve had 2 dragon flies. Several butterflies, shitloads of moths. Many bees and a few wasp. As well as the shit ton of flies. Is it me or do dragon flies seem bigger than usual this year

Ladyymuck · 28/07/2025 23:27

Spiders, slaters, millipedes, moths, blue bottles and a wasp ugh ugh ugh 😣

tinyspiny · 28/07/2025 23:27

We’ve had one spider , we have roller blind type midge screens on all our windows so we just don’t get flies / bugs .

I'm not sure why you would scream ?

Maybe if you think about it really really hard you'll work it out.

😂😂😂 Exactly this.

I mean it did pretty much fly into my bloody ear 😆

Ladybirds
Bumble bees
Honey bees
Two grasshoppers
Yesterday it was a peacock butterfly

An ENORMOUS dragonfly today, it was the size of my hand! I had no idea they could get that big.

Bloody hell! What’s going on at the moment. I’m used to bugs in the summer but the ones I’ve seen/heard on here seem quite unusual to enter homes?

I live in the eastern Med 😎 Used to all manner of beasties but the kitchen crab and bed centipede nearly finished me off, I actually thought I was hallucinating on both occasions 🤯🤣

A few years ago I lived near a banana plantation and big hairy tarantulas would occasionally visit 🕷️ I do have pics but won't post them 😅
