I don’t. I’m a complete Coke Zero addict. I have approximately 4 cans a day but could easily have more if I wasn’t thinking about it. I’m trying to cut back and im trying to up my water intake. It’s not easy but for me it’s just breaking the habit.

am I alone? Does everyone else drink lots of water and never have any fizzy drink?

What age are you?

Fizzy drinks increase your stomach size, you ll eat more over time.

Just go cold turkey on it. It's really bad for you. I Havnt drunk fizzy drinks in 4 years, don't miss them at all.

dogsandbudgey · 27/07/2025 18:50

I’m 44

I’m the opposite! I drink water and coffee and don’t like fizzy drinks or squash! It’s a bit awkward that occasionally people comment on how healthy it is that I drink so much water or ask if I’m on a detox but it’s genuinely the only drinks I have throughout the day!

dogsandbudgey · 27/07/2025 18:54

Oh my goodness that’s so strange to me, I wish I was like you. Are you slim by any chance?

Just an additional point… have you tried adding a squeeze of lemon or lime to water to make it taste of something else? A colleague of mine did this which helped her drink more water. She would also sometimes have other things like berries or cucumber sitting in the water. I’ve not tried this myself but just an idea.

Comedycook · 27/07/2025 18:55

I never ever drink fizzy drinks... My parents were strict and banned them! I am grateful for this. I can't bear to drink them now...the sensation of the fizz in my mouth actually hurts. I don't understand how other people can glug them.

I drink quite a bit of water and lots of sugar free orange squash.

anyzee · 27/07/2025 18:55

Never touch the stuff (like coke zero and the likes), but I'm no saint either! I probably should drink more water, but I don't - I have tea, coffee, and fizzy water with fresh (or bottled) fruit juice, all day long. No alcohol either.

I'm not lecturing you at all but the likes of coke zero can be quite addictive I hear. But then again I can't be prised away from my tea/coffee/fizzy water either. 😊

Iloveeverycat · 27/07/2025 18:55

I don't drink anything fizzy. I don't drink water either unless I make a conscious effort to drink it. I could go all day and not have a drink. I don't get thirsty.

SriouslyWhutNow · 27/07/2025 18:56

I drink tea and coffee almost exclusively. The digestive system is there for a reason and all drinks have lots of water in them, so I don't see the logic in drinking literal water as opposed to a decent quantity of preferred liquids.

MiddleAgedDread · 27/07/2025 18:56

Rarely ever have a fizzy drink unless it’s Prosecco , drink 2-3 litres of water a day.

Vroomfondleswaistcoat · 27/07/2025 18:56

I don't like water, but I'll drink it with cordial in. Mainly drink tea and milk though, very very rarely do I drink fizzy drinks. I like them well enough, but they're expensive to use just for rehydrating and I run and cycle a lot so I need a fair bit of liquid in. I wish I could just drink water, but I don't like the taste...

I am, but do have to make an effort to not overindulge on crisps and nuts - they are my kryptonite!!

another thought!! How about sparking water with lime? That might make things fizzy enough to trick yourself?!

Allmarbleslost · 27/07/2025 18:57

I don't drink any water. Decaf tea, coffee, diet fizzy drinks and the occasional fruit juice.

dogsandbudgey · 27/07/2025 18:57

Fizzy water is surely ok? I drink so much of it out of habit but I’d love to wean off it completely or at least have it just at weekends

I aim to drink about 2l a day (4 pint glasses). I’m on cancer treatment so it’s recommended to drink plenty of water. I drink coffee with milk in the morning and I usually drink sugar free squash with meals. No alcohol and only rarely have fizzy drinks, maybe with a meal out or like if I got a meal deal somewhere. Nothing else it’s quite expensive.

doodleschnoodle · 27/07/2025 18:57

I don’t drink much water but I don’t drink that much generally, I will make a drink like I’ll have a tea or coffee or glass of juice af breakfast but I’m not constantly sipping from a bottle of water. I’ll drink water if I’m thirsty and am not in the tea/coffee cycle, but not a great deal. Drinking lots of water just makes me feel bloated and pee constantly, no glowing skin and energy here, it just pisses me off Grin

Madisnttheword · 27/07/2025 18:59

I don't drink any water. I drink at least 8 cans of sugar free boost every day and one can of pepsi max.

Starlight7080 · 27/07/2025 18:59

I switched out my whole families drinks about 5 years ago. I clicked I was always buying squash and actually panicked if didnt have any in for my kids.
So I just stopped. Our tap water is horrid so I have a water filter thats fab . But I do always have lots of bottled water in the fridge. My kids all ask for water as a go to drink now. My dh has to anyway as diabetic . And I just drink tea or water.
Once we stopped having other drinks in the house it was easier.

doodleschnoodle · 27/07/2025 18:59

Also OP I read something about it not mattering if you are sipping from a bottle all day or if you just down a glass of water in one if overall quantities are the same. You could just try and down a glass of water first thing. I do that sometimes when I know I ‘should’.

CreationNat1on · 27/07/2025 18:59

Carbonated drinks swell up your tummy, better to avoid all of them.

I m lucky to drink 1 litre of plain water a day, I have teas and coffees as well and some vit mineral waters. I must drink more still water.

Yeah I think fizzy water is fine! I do drink that, but weirdly in my brain I categorise that as water and not a fizzy drink 🤣🤣🤣 so yes, add fizzy water to my coffee and still water that I drink!!

Comedycook · 27/07/2025 19:01

Fizzy water is foul...I couldn't finish a glass of it if you paid me.

Lollylolo · 27/07/2025 19:02

I drink about 3-4 litres a day. So does DH and DC also drink a lot. My parents only drink tea/coffee/orange juice (at breakfast) and I don't understand how they aren't completely dehydrated.

I find it so weird when people don't drink water at all.

SaulHudsonDavidJones · 27/07/2025 19:02

I have to force myself to drink water. I just don’t think about it, nor do I enjoy it. I mostly drink coffee and the odd squash. I do drink water but it’s an effort, and no more than 2 pints a day I’d say.

TaborlinTheGreat · 27/07/2025 19:02

I drink mostly water and tea. Occasionally (real) fruit juice. I dislike most fizzy drinks. I find them too sweet and they taste of horrible artificial flavourings and sweeteners. I don't always drink as much water as I should though. I have various digestive issues and suspected endometriosis and drinking more water helps.
