Do you drink much/any water?

I don’t. I’m a complete Coke Zero addict. I have approximately 4 cans a day but could easily have more if I wasn’t thinking about it. I’m trying to cut back and im trying to up my water intake. It’s not easy but for me it’s just breaking the habit.

am I alone? Does everyone else drink lots of water and never have any fizzy drink?

I try to. I drink it every day but also love coffee, cold coffee drinks & Coke Zero.

AlligatorTears · 27/07/2025 22:23

I have 1 coffee and 1 coke a day. Water the rest of the time.

I really do love water! I wouldn’t say I love green beans but I really like them.

I don't love water, but I love green beans.

I never come into the house saying "I could murder a glass of water" as I just don't find it as satisfying as a cup of tea, especially on a cold day.

Fizbosshoes · 27/07/2025 22:53

I'm similar to you @dogsandbudgey I drink mainly fizzy drinks (diet coke or flavoured water, occassionally I have squash) Fizzy water makes me feel ill though.
This year I've tried hard to drink more water but I'm still only up to 750ml - 1 litre/day. I haven't noticed any benefits but I need the loo about 7 times a day at work! I can't compute how people are drinking eg 3 litres of water without going for a wee every 10 minutes!

AllHoityToity · 27/07/2025 22:53

Water is definitely my favourite drink but the water where I live isn’t nice at all so I’ve got a filter tap. When I go back to where I grew up I look forward to the water!

I also drink tea and wine. And occasionally beer on a hot day. I never drink juice or fizzy drinks. My dd is 21 and she’s never had a coke which is quite strange I think but there you go.

SouthernNights59 · 27/07/2025 22:56

I drink three or four glasses of water every day. Fizzy drinks are more a treat, I don't drink them every week, let alone every day.

aWeeCornishPastie · 27/07/2025 23:10

I drink quite a lot of water about a litre a day. And lots more I suppose through cups of tea. I don’t drink a lot of fizzy juice at all

I drink about 3-4 litres a day. So does DH and DC also drink a lot. My parents only drink tea/coffee/orange juice (at breakfast) and I don't understand how they aren't completely dehydrated.

I find it so weird when people don't drink water at all.

They are not dehydrated because tea coffee and juice all count as fluids

Thunderpants88 · 27/07/2025 23:12

Anywhere between 2-5 litres a day

UrbanOasis · 27/07/2025 23:14

I drink mostly tea and coffee, a little water, and also wine or beer. Sparkling water sometimes, but no fizzy drinks or minerals as we used to call them in my youth. Also no cordial.

ItsFridayIminLoveJS · 27/07/2025 23:16

My favourite drink of choice.
I drink to quench my thirst.. not for the taste.
I drink loads.. take two flasks ( 500ml each) to bed too.
I never go out without a flask of cold water.. just bought a new American fridge freezer with a water dispenser.
My Granny always told me to drink water.. it's great for your skin.. she had wonderful skin and l still get complimented on mine age 66 ( no cellulite either,).

TheLeadbetterLife · 27/07/2025 23:17

I drink gallons of water, I love it. Other than black coffee in the morning, I pretty much only drink water (occasionally tea). I have a particular brand of fancy fizzy water as a treat at the weekend, it's genuinely my favourite drink (god that's bleak).

Portakalkedi · 27/07/2025 23:18

I'm amazed that there are those who don't drink water at all. In supermarkets I find it sad that there are aisles full of fizzy drinks and huge bottles of cheap pop. What a waste of resources, transport, the cost to health etc. Should be an occasional thing rather than an everyday standard.

You drink a litre of water at night?
How many times do you get up in the night to use the bathroom?

I'm amazed you are amazed. I prefer hot drinks. I don't love water and never fancy it.

It is a fallacy that tea and coffee don't contribute to your fluid intake. The diuretic effect is less than you think.

I CBA to cart a large bottle of water around with me if I am popping out for some grocery shopping. I don't even take a handbag with me.

For the record, I do drink water but I don't guzzle litres of it. It just doesn't hit the spot for me.

AuntMarch · 27/07/2025 23:32

I drink a lot of water if I keep an insulated water bottle filled up - when I left it at work one Friday I noticed I drank hardly any over the weekend! I have a 950ml one and can easily fill it 3 times in the day, plus drinking 2 or 3 mugs of tea.

I do drink fizzy, but not every day, either a 7up (with or without gin!) or a caffiene free pepsi max usually.

NeverOneBiscuit · 27/07/2025 23:41

I love tea, both the taste & it quenches my thirst.

I don’t like water, & have to force myself to drink it in a ‘it’s good for me’ way.

I’m generally not somebody who feels that thirsty, I can go for a few hours without a drink of any kind. I never carry water, & the idea of sipping away at it is alien to me. The rest of my family love it & drink it constantly, they think I’m nuts not to like it!

Pieceofpurplesky · 27/07/2025 23:48

I’ve always drank loads of water as I don’t drink tea, coffee or fizzy drinks, I never have. Whilst I am still fat I do have great skin which I believe is the water.

GauntJudy · 27/07/2025 23:58

I rarely have fizzy drinks, if it's a really hot day then perhaps I'll have a pepsi maxx cherry . But just one. I've never developed the appetite for lots of fizzy drinks, I think it's down to cost really. I'm pleased I've avoided it cos my friends with pop addictions have terrible dental problems.

I'm no Saint and for a long time mostly drank tea. I do consciously have water with meals these days just to make sure I flush my system!

There's worse addictions to have though OP!

Cannongoose · 28/07/2025 00:01

I was told off by my doctor for drink6 litres of water a day - I’ve reduced it to around 4. I also drink black coffee and cider but fizzy drinks only ever if out for a meal ,which is pretty much never these days),
I grew up without good drinking water and now I find it gard to go without drinking water after two hours (I’ll drink about a pint every time),

Vaxtable · 28/07/2025 00:19

I drink caffeine free Diet Coke, allowed myself 2 cans a day max but about 18months ago stopped, I have perhaps one a week max now if that. Bottle green elderflower is the trick for me with really cold water

or just ice cold water, ie tap water

MissyPants · 28/07/2025 00:52

I steer clear of bottled fizzy water, as the fizz releases microplastics which we will be drinking, so it must do in bottles of fizzy pop as well, but I see you drink cans.
I drink plain tap water, sometimes with cordial, around 1.5 lites a day but need to increase it. I also have a few coffees in the day.
I need to invest in a soda machine to create my own fizzy water as that's a good substitute with some coronal in it, instead of pop.

YourBlueScroller · 28/07/2025 01:11

I drink loads but as I've got older am really fussy about water.

Has to be cold so I have a filtered jug.

Also much prefer it in a stainless steel bottle with an inbuilt straw on the lid so pretty much drink from a Sho bottle all the time. Works quite well for WFH.

RampantIvy · 28/07/2025 06:40

Why?

It looks like you are getting plenty of hydration.

I can't believe how thirsty so many posters are.

I have to agree with this!
