Anyone on Propranolol for anxiety/migraines?

i briefly tried Propranolol for migraines but it didn’t seem to do a lot so I switched to Amitriptyline which has helped a bit.

However, I’ve been feeling extremely anxious lately, and I wonder if I should give Propranolol another go. I don’t feel panicky as such - no faster heart beat or anything, I tend to feel sick and have stomach issues instead.

Can Propranolol help with that or is it more to control your heart in anxious situations? I know I could ask my GP, but we all know what it’s like trying to get an appointment.

I take a very low dose of Propranolol (2.5mg x 2, I think) when I feel anxious and it does help, not sure if it’s a placebo effect but it seems to work for me.

Yes I find propranolol helps when I'm particularly anxious. My prescription is for 10mg tablets to be taken as and when, up to 3 times a day.

I take 80mg per day propranolol for migraines. It did take a while to get used to, and I had some side effects at first. However it has improved my migraines and I've noticed I seem to be calmer than I used to be.

Thanks all. Does it help with the nausea side of anxiety?

I tried Propanalol for migraines and it didn't do a thing. Amitriptyline made me feel awful. Spaced out and shaky.
So I was given Cadesarten 8mg which helped the migraines some, it was doubled to 16mg by the neurologist and has been amazing. I'm down to about 4 a month from about 12.

I couldnt tell you about whether it helps with nausea associated with anxiety OP because that's not something I tend to get.
I'm a not being able to sleep or to eat, mind racing and totally hyper type of anxious person. And sometimes I get stress headaches and migraine. But not generally nausea.
The propranolol calms my mind and helps stop the unwanted thoughts and thats why I find it useful.

I took propranolol for about 5 years,I dont think it worked at all for anxiety but it did reduce the severity of my migraines. However a new doctor suggested I try a low does of Sertraline (primarily used as an antidepressant) and this completely stopped my migraines and after a wobbly first few weeks made me feel much less anxious.

I was on 40mg of propranolol up to 3 times a day up until recently - it was prescribed for anxiety. Unfortunately I ended up with bradycardia, (my resting heart beat was averaging 51bpm), so had to stop. To be totally honest, I think any benefit I felt was just placebo anyway.
