Connecting with corporate volunteers for our charitable project

Any suggestions of how we can find businesses who would like to volunteer at a (brilliant!) charitable project? We know that other projects similar to ours have businesses who help them, so I know our activities would appeal, but I just don't know how to find them. Thanks.

Try Linked In maybe? Say we are seeking corporate volunteers if your company is interested in participating in CSR volunteering we have opportunities for your teams to join us either on an ad hoc basis or ongoing basis. Approach local law firms and accountants firms - they are big on CSR..

My old company (not in the UK) used to offer volunteering days where groups would decorate the interiors of sheltered housing for learning disabled people.

It worked really well because it was possible for a small team to accomplish something tangibly useful in a day, and the painting required care but not much actual skill. It was well supervised by someone from the charity who was confident about DIY, and on one day we were joined by one of the residents and their carer, which was nice.

I did not set the scheme up at the company but I guess it would be helpful before you phone them to be clear on how many volunteers you need, whether it is a one off commitment, how much skill they need and the benefits that the activity will bring.
