What do I need to do to become a midwife ?

what do I need to do to become a midwife ? Do I have to go to uni or can you train/work/ study without uni?

Not sure about the rest of the U.K. (assuming that’s where you’re based), but in Scotland you need to go to university

Yes to uni and copious amounts of childcare (if you have kids that need looking after). And I believe you do pay fees

My DD is nearing the end of her 2nd year. She did a health access course over a year at college to get onto the degree course,and the course itself is 3 years so it was a 4 year commitment for her. She works ridiculous hours on the wards/community for no pay as well as submitting ongoing course work, and then attends university in blocks. I'm on hand for childcare especially over weekends but she also has to use paid care such as before and after school clubs during term time. Her youngest is 6 and it's not been easy for the kids or DD/her DH. He can work shifts around hers but only having one wage coming in isn't easy.

I'm in awe of her, frankly.

Forgot to add she also will come out with a shed load of debt masked as a student loan.
