Where's it best to be as a spectator?
Our DS is doing it for the first time The Sprint one on 9th August, they start from the Excel Centre but not sure where it ends and where we should watch.

Is there any Q&As for spectators?

Locate yourself in the excel centre as well. You may be able to see him out of the swim on the bike course and the run. The finish is inside the excel centre. His starting pack will have a map of the route and you can work out how to get to the different vantage points from there. Good luck to your son.

my daughter and her dad were along the run course as you could see the swim from there too, funny I was wearing my finisher t shirt yesterday

@AuntyBulgaria we are all getting the train down night before def not driving. But any idea best way for DS to get his bike to Excel hotel area once he gets off train at Kings Cross! He's saying he'll cycle...around 10 miles he reckons. An uber/cab he said would be crazy £££

You aren't allowed bikes on most tubes. You can on the overground but not sure how helpful that is. I cycled my bike to excel the day before it was much easier than trying to fight on the train.

Bikes are allowed on the Elizabeth line off-peak. The easiest way to Excel from KX uses the Elizabeth line anyway - get on the Elizabeth line at Farringdon and stay on to Custom House (which is near the west of Excel).

To get to Farringdon from KX is easy. It’s either a quick taxi (or a quick cycle!), or one stop on the tube (Met, H&C or Circle lines) or one stop on the (bikes allowed off peak).

If he does want to cycle all the way, it’s actually only 9 miles and much of the route uses cycle lanes (including the cycle superhighway a.k.a. CS3).

Edit: I’m a Londoner who cycles a lot and lives between KX and Excel, and has spent much time supporting various men in my life at the London triathlon (including driving them and their bikes across London after the race).

Spectating at Excel is a fun experience. Enjoy! Watch out for any celebs. Gordon Ramsay is often there.

@HundredMilesAnHour This is fabulous advice thank you so much!!! He's confident, nothing phases him so will pass on the advice. We are going the day before and Im guessing he'll prob have a lesiurely cycle there from Kings X. Coming back maybe he'll train it as tired legs!
