Have I tattooed my forehead? (Accidentally!)

With a Stabilo 0.4 fineliner pen. Purple.

I was thinking deep thoughts at my laptop while on a Teams meeting and wielding the only pen I could find close to hand. Something caused me to face palm, forgetting I had the pen in my hand, and I stabbed myself in the forehead with the purple fineliner. It blooming hurt.

This was about a month ago and I’d forgotten about it until today when I asked DD if she try and get rid of a stubborn blackhead on my forehead. It’s not a blackhead, it’s a purple head.

Ive tried squeezing, retinol and those blackhead spot stickers but it’s not budging. Do you think I could get it out with a professional facial, and if so what sort.

Thank you.

A old school friend has an ink tattoo after and incidentvof a fellow student and ink pen. It's lasted over 30 yrs. I honestly thought exfoliation would have got rid of it.

ClearlyAGiraffe · 18/07/2025 14:00

My sister did this when she was eight. It’s forty five years ago and it’s still there.

You need something alkaline to remove ink.

Bicarb, ash (eww I know but in the 90s hairdressing we used to use cigarette ash to remove hair dye on the forehead!), pen and ink stain remover etc

I had forgotten all about using fag ash for hair colour. It’s very effective, though I always thought it was the grainy texture and the fact that it absorbed hair colour (which also removes hair colour) that worked and had no idea that it was its alkalinity.

PuceisNotGreenWhoKnew · 18/07/2025 19:05

Oh dear.

I will get some bicarbonate of soda onto it. Old fashioned soap is alkaline too, I think?

When you say get it lasered is that something that a facialist would do?

You could try some pimple patches?

Triselly · 18/07/2025 19:46

I'm a tattooist OP and can say no amount of topical treatments are gonna shift it I'm afraid!

You have tattooed your forehead, if it is a few weeks old and still there, it probably has settled into the dermis or fat layer below your epidermis and is likely gonna stay there.

If the ink particles are small enough to eventually be absorbed then it will fade, but if not you might want to look into tattoo lasering. It's expensive and painful but it's such a tiny spot it shouldn't be too bad.

PuceisNotGreenWhoKnew · 18/07/2025 20:42

Oh NO @Triselly if I’d done something to it straight away, would I have been able to get rid of it?

I am such a fool!

How do I know where to go to get tattoo laseri g?

If you search tattoo laser removal and your town a whole bunch will pop up, sometimes they only do tattoos, a local one near me does hair and tatttoos etc

KaitlynnFairchild · 18/07/2025 21:39

Just blob a bit of concealer over it, it’s tiny.

PuceisNotGreenWhoKnew · 18/07/2025 22:22

I’ll look into the cost of removal and if it’s too much I’ll ignore it. I’ve never found a concealer the correct colour.

I have a “tattoo” on my finger.

Years ago, when I was an infant teacher, I was moving around some paintbrushes. One had been put away dirty with black paint that had dried and hardened to a point! The point stabbed me, deposited black stuff, and I still have a black spot on my finger to this day.

In short, yes; it’s possible you are now permanently tattooed!

Sorry, no idea how to help you though.

The black spot! 🏴‍☠️

DumbbellIdiot · 18/07/2025 22:28

I’ve a pencil lead tattoo on my hand after being stabbed by Matthew Topliss in Infant School.
Im 50 years old and it’s still there.

Yaty · 18/07/2025 22:32

Sorry OP but possibly. I have a 'tattoo' on my knee where my brother accidently stabbed me with a pencil, 30 years ago!

Triselly · 19/07/2025 06:03

@PuceisNotGreenWhoKnew No honestly there’s nothing you could have done instantly to remove it - as the ink spot was inserted directly into the spot where it got stuck so was not on the surface anymore! If it had become a tiny scab you might have had some luck picking it off as this can pull the ink out, but you also risk scarring if you do that.

Like an earlier poster said, if you google ‘tattoo laser near me’ and make sure you go somewhere with lots of good reviews, I am sure they can help you out. It might take a few sessions to completely remove the ink (lasers work by breaking down the ink particles into small enough particles to be absorbed by the body) but like I said it is so tiny you might have luck quite quickly.

Hope you have success in getting rid of it! I understand as have a ton of accidental tiny tattoos but on the forehead is rather visible and I think it would bother me too!

Husband has a small tattoo on his ear from where his mum picked him up with a pen in her mouth when he was a baby and managed to spike him. He’s in his late 60s now so yours may well, unfortunately, be permanent.

CeciliaMars · 19/07/2025 07:53

Have you tried The Pink Stuff?!

PuceisNotGreenWhoKnew · 19/07/2025 10:03

Why did MN get rid of the laughter emoji! Some of you are hilarious.

But it’s the fact it’s in the middle of my forehead that’s making me sad. It’s reassuring to know that I couldn’t have done anything at the time to remove it. It didn’t even bleed.

I have some small radiotherapy tattoos and I don’t think about them, much. But this one is right in the middle of my forehead.
