SIL wedding

I really need help right now.
So my SIL gets married next month, and even though i'm looking forward to go, i'm also dreading it. I have bad anxiety and when it kicks off, it sets my IBS off, i also don't like my picture taken, one because i'm a big girl but also because i sweat so much.
The sweating is getting worse so i'm hoping to get into the doctors tomorrow. But my SIL wants everyone to walk for 25 mins from the first location where she'll be getting married to the second location for the night do. Apparently they'll be filming it and taking pictures.
Not only do i sweat loads, but its been a long time since i've not worn trainers, i'm going to be looking at some dolly shoes, (high heels is a no for me) so not only do i need to find some comfy shoe but i need a comfy dress and some chub rub shorts for underneath. I have a big arse too, so i'm hoping someone on here can point me in the right direction for comfy shoes, a dress to fit me and some pointers on how to have my hair.
I am not girly at all, so even makeup is getting me nervous. My hair is very thick, wavy so an up do maybe.
Can some one help me, i'm ready to ball my eyes out. I really want to go and celebrate her day with my husband and kids, but i want to feel comfortable but also feel good about my self

This dress would be perfect. I am a UK size 20 and this would look great on me but also hide sweat and look dressy. I still wouldn't do the walk because I HATE feeling sweaty and hot when I am dressed up. I would have my hair up no matter what, and sprayed heavily with hair spray to keep it looking nice all night even if I am hot.

Lots of good ideas I agree-
quality deodorant in your bag I use triple dry underarms it’s great
setting spray is a life saver I use elf it’s great value
definitely chub rub shorts go for a flowing dress so can’t be seen
I have some super comfy pumps that I wear to weddings now -

Maxi dress - try Sahara
pedicure, toes painted in a bright summery colour. Manicure and nails in some colour or French polish
White trainers for walking, flip flops for the rest of the day
hair up - get it done professionally if you can so it stays up, will help to keep you cool
buy a handheld fan and charge it fully (or two even better) you can get them on a cord that you wear round your neck so that the fan blows on your face whilst you are walking. Then have it at the table blowing on you whilst eating/chatting
Someone has suggested Snag chub rub shorts - worth every penny
i’d stick to mascara and lipstick to try and keep cool, but if you have a red tone to your skin you may want to try the green foundation that tones the colour down

Movinghouseatlast · 16/07/2025 21:38

Fit Flop do great non flip flop shoes. The wedges are so comfortable even though they are fairly high.

I can see why the bride wants this walk, I'm sure she imagines a leisurely pace not a forced march!

Never Fully Dressed have some fabulous dresses with sleeves.

Indianajet · 16/07/2025 22:35

What will happen if it pours with rain?

Blueyfan90 · 17/07/2025 10:42

Just read through all your lovely comments, thank you everyone.
So i just been to doctors about the sweating and other things and found out i properly have Fibromyalgia, so i'm properly going to get help with the sweating etc, because i'm constantly looking as though i got out of the shower.
I'm going to book myself into a local hairdressers for that day and see if my mum can do a light make up on me.
My dad is taking us and dropping us off at the first venue where she will be getting married, but then he'll be coming home. But the second place apparently as only a few parking spaces and they'll all be taken up. I don't drive anyway, but i thought i might be able to get a ride from someone, but i'm doubtful now. She's mainly invited all her uni friends, and only a few family members are going.
I love my in laws to bits, but i'm gonna talk to my hubby about a taxi, i want to feel good all day, and the thought of sweating and looking awful afterwards is really getting to me.
I've taken notes from all comments, especially with links to clothes. I plan to go and look at outfits in a couple of weeks when my parents have the kids.

For the dress, a dark base colour with a pattern is best to hide sweaty patches. Go for a very low block heel with a strap for comfort, forever comfort from Next or Clarks is your friend here.
For hair I'd stick with an updo, then its sorted and you don't have to worry about it for the day. You could even go so far as to get a little handheld battery fan for your purse, that way you can cool your face, neck down as needed throughout the day.

Blueyfan90 · 17/07/2025 18:11

I have thought of a fan, but she's going to have professionals to take photos and videos.
I've just suggested getting a taxi to my husband, but he says its not that long of a walk and we all got to do it. It makes me want to do it less now, my anxiety over the sweating is really getting to me now

Please ignore the early recommendation of a linen dress! Nothing shows sweat and damp more than linen, as I'm sure you know. I used to suffer from hyperhidrosis and it's the last thing I'd ever wear!

You need floaty, sleeveless and dark. And good luck!

Fireangels · 17/07/2025 18:29

For hair, get a hairdresser to do a flattering updo. This is how I wore my hair for my daughter’s wedding. I had a little Fascinator which was much cooler than a hat. My hair didn’t move, and I gained dozens of hairpins after which I’m still using!
For shoes, change into Skechers Slip ins for the walk. No faffing with laces and sooo comfy. You can get some pretty flat sandals for the ceremony and the evening that you can slip into your bag.
Spray your sweat points (or all over if necessary) with strong antiperspirant like Mitchum. Take some cool wipes (Superdrug cucumber are nice) to mop up face sweat and wear very light makeup.
And have a wonderful day!

@Blueyfan90 , hi OP, you've had great advice re clothes etc., but I notice you said that anxiety sets off your IBS - same here! Would you consider taking some Immodium, just to give you peace of mind? That's what I do, and sometimes just knowing it's in my bag calms me down and means I'm not frantically looking to see where the nearest loo is.

magicstar1 · 17/07/2025 18:55

I'm a bit bigger than you and got a lovely maxi dress to wearing to a wedding. If you get a nice long one, then you can wear whatever shoes you like and nobody will see them.
I'd get a little handheld fan too. They're very popular and a lot of people use them.

minnienono · 17/07/2025 18:56

Wear trainers! Several people wore them to my wedding because they are comfortable

I have to take 3 imodiums every day anyway, Its a lot but it means i only go 4 times a day.
Only thing i can think off is having a shot of something strong😂and i don't drink, but at least i'd be calm.
I have been looking at maxi dresses on Yours, so i need to go and try some clothes on.
Thank you everyone for all your helps x

I would 💯 go on to the ordinary website and get your skin care sorted. Good make up does require some good skin care. There are some great setting sprays for your make up from Rimmel and urban decay. Id definitely go for a proper up do. I was recently at a wedding and a few people had fans. Id not be bothered by guests having fans at my wedding. You've had lots of recommendations for an outfit. I'm not the same size as you so I'd be rubbish at giving you the right advice but a jumpsuit would be perfect! Hope you have an amazing day.

Try Perspi-guard max strength antiperspirant - £10.79 Amazon. I get sweaty pits - this stop it dead!

I use this stuff and it’s amazing! Been using it for 5 years now, always get BO in one pit and this stops it

Blueyfan90 · 15/08/2025 18:15

I just want to thank everyone for their help and suggestions. The wedding is tomorrow, i bought a lovely dress from yours clothing, i have some flat shoes, my mum is going to put a bit of make up on me. I'm booked in for my hair doing tomorrow, and my lovely hair dresser has a plan for a curly up do.
I haven't had the chance to sort the sweating out, but i have 5 imodiums down stairs ready to take in the morning😂 me, my husband and the 3 kids are getting a taxi from the first venue to the second.
Though i gotta say me and my husband are not looking forward to tomorrow, we aren't keen on big social events. But i'm hoping to get some nice photos, it is very rare that i get a picture with my 3 boys and my husband ❤️ i'll add the picture of the dress i have for tomorrow... It only cost £55 😊
It isn't a good picture, one of my kids was rushing me for the loo haha

Wisheverydaywasfriday · 15/08/2025 21:15

Ohh. 😍 What a fabulous colour. Just perfect! Gorgeous dress, have the most wonderful day tomorrow.

Dabberlocks · 15/08/2025 21:22

What a lovely dress, and a gorgeous colour.

Have a wonderful day. Stay calm and remember - the best thing about weddings is that everyone spends all day looking at the woman in white! Flowers

Coconutter24 · 15/08/2025 21:43

Have you worn the flat shoes around the house? Even new flat shoes can rub!

Endofyear · 15/08/2025 21:57

That's a beautiful dress, love the colour! Hope you enjoy the day and get some great photos with your DH and boys ☺️

Blueyfan90 · 16/08/2025 07:32

I been wearing the shoes all week, but i'm going to put plasters on my toes and ankles
