Any knitters out there who could help me?

I'm very new to knittig and need some help please.
I'm starting decreases on the neckline on a sweater. Pattern says knit 24, bind off 26 and then knit last 24 . I know I need to knit into the front and back of a stitch before I start the bind off BUT not sure which stitch I do that on.
Would be grateful for any help please. Thank you

I assume you have a total of 74 stitches, so you want 24 plus 24 with the bound off bit in the middle.

Knit 24, then knit another two and start binding off by passing the 25th stitch over the 26th.

I do have 74 stitches. Thank you so much for your help!

Make sure you don't cast off too tight

You have probably done it by now, but if I need to pick up those same stitches for the neckband then I don't bother to cast off. I put them on a holder instead, ready to incorporate into the neckband.

Me neither. I don't cast them off unless the garment is heavy and needs the extra strength.
