Holiday after GSCE results - bad timing?

Looking to next year, I do love to plan ahead for holidays. Planning a week away between lady exam and prom. I’d live to go away again but I can’t do July at all because of work. Or first week in August. We’re not something on weekend before results. So it only leave last week of school holidays.

The only downside is if results aren’t as expected there may be some looking for alternatives. We’re not anticipating any issues as DC works really hard and is planning on a-levels at current school or possibly elsewhere. Am I missing anything we need to be around for,

Things to consider:
GCSE contingency day
Any transition days to 6th form/college
Registration post GCSEs - for us this is the afternoon of results day for those staying at the same place. But DSs back up location have said they will send an appointment for the following week. So maybe just check how that falls?

Make a back up plan in advance unless you are confident of achieving results. Apply for first choice at sixth form if results are good and an alternative in case not as expected. You can hold 2 different offers of places then turn one down. Much easier than scrabbling for places at the last minute. Check GCSE contingency days, this year last one was 25th June. Check when transition days are usually held.
