Changing name after marriage - how to keep maiden name as a middle name?

I have been lazy and not changed my name after getting married but want the same surname as my DC - I know the process to take DH surname is to send marriage certificate to record holders (whatever that means?) but I want to keep my maiden name and add it as another middle name.

Can I just do an unenrolled deed poll? Then change my name on bank / bills etc and then apply for new name to be on my passport?

Thanks for any help!!

That's exactly what I did. I sometimes I have to make it extra clear that its a middle name, not a double barrelled last name. Deed poll was all it took, and I used that not my marriage certificate.

Changing your name to your married name isn't permanent and you can swap between the two. If you change by deedpoll you can't flip back without changing
