What film shall I watch later?

Everyone is out and it’s finally cooled down so I’m going to watch a film and plough through the ironing pile! Have allll the TV and film apps / channels so I’d love to hear recommendations for something my husband wouldn’t like!! Strong female leads, maybe a weepy, maybe a drama, something that’s ‘decent’ or powerful rather than a lighthearted romp!!

Straw. It’s new on Netflix, very dramatic with strong female cast

Keeping Mum. Watched it at the weekend, really funny.
Also, The Dressmaker. A bit cheesy, but entertaining.

I don't know if 'Finding Your Feet' is on anywhere, but that would fit your description.

I have just finished watching The Lakes - written by Jimmy McGovern and starring John Simm. Brilliant writing and brilliant acting. I cannot recommend too highly. It is quite a few years old now and was a TV series.

A Dark Song is more thank just an occult horror. It’s actually beautiful and redemptive.
