How to get good sleep? Help! I’m tired and fed up

I have sleep issues, I’m constantly tired! I have tried good sleep hygiene but due to either sleep talking / walking or loosing feeling in my arms / hands / fingers that wakes me up im
struggling.

I spoke to the GP and they gave me some sleep tablets to use sparingly. I tried one last week and felt so good the next day and rested. I know I can’t use them all the time so feeling a bit sad….and tired.

Hit me with:

  • Best sleep tactics
  • Any advice on how to stop my arms going numb (just had a nap and it woke me up 3 times in a space of an hour)
  • any sleep walking / talking advice

Might not be relevant to your situation but I was suffering from what I would call sleep anxiety. Not falling asleep if I had anything out of the ordinary on the next day. This turned into worrying about events way in the future, and what would happen if I didn't sleep. Made worse if I was driving to whatever it was. With a general increase in anxiety in my life I started on Sertraline a few months ago and it has transformed my sleep.

I also use a sleep mask and noise machine. I appreciate you are having physical difficulties so not sure if this is helpful.

i don’t sleep well for a number of reasons what works for me
no phones for about an hour before bed
cool bedroom
only one pillow, I have terrible neck issues and finally found a pillow that works
nothing to eat or drink 2hours before bed
window being open
earplugs
magnesium glycinate

I can’t have a regular bed time due to shift work but I set my alarm for 8hours of sleep and get up even if I’ve only managed 4/5
try not to nap unless I’ve been early shift and then I limit it to 1hour.
only one coffee a day in the morning
plenty water throughout the day
