Good Morning All! What's everyone doing today?

Good Morning from the train home from Leeds, with dd1! We're just about home from Trnsmt in Glasgow yesterday 🎶.

When we get in, I'm going to bed for a few hours, and I expect dd1 will do the same since we've only napped (on the coach from Glasgow to Leeds) since 4am yesterday <yawn>.

We both thoroughly enjoyed the festival, and decided we need more than a quick walk through Glasgow to explore so are planning an overnight, maybe over the holidays.

Dd2's been home with her dad & had planned to do some prep for an assessment on Tuesday so I'll see how that's gone & offer to help her later. She has sent me a link to a gig she'd like to go to, in Manchester, but we'll discuss that tomorrow.

No roast, or scrubby everything shower tonight! It'll be help yourself to what's there, and back to bed for me, ready for the last week (and 2 days) of school 🥳.

What about all of you? 🙂

Good morning @lucysmam , it sounds like you had a good time!
I’ve been up since 5, both dogs have had a walk, I’ve cleaned out the fridge, hung out two lots of laundry, tidied the kitchen and sorted out dinner (cold lamb, beetroot, feta and mint salad, celery, apple, walnut and cucumber salad and new potatoes) and am about to have a coffee.
Absolutely nothing planned for the rest of the day except trying to stay cool.
i might do some drawing, I want to try out my watercolour pencils.

Crunchymum · 13/07/2025 09:03

Oh I'm so glad you enjoyed yourselves!! And yes make sure today is a rest day.

No real plans today. I swapped DC2 for my DN yesterday so we'll have to swap back to some point today.

DC1 and DN are going to hit the local shops when they open (there is a Tiger and a few other nick nack shops) and they plan to have Nando's or Waga's for lunch.

I've got shopping arriving soon, then I'm going to iron the uniforms - last full week of ironing!!

Think it will be chicken kebabs with salad and halloumi for dinner. Although DC1 may be all chickened out if they have Nandos for lunch!!

Early night all round as we were out the house for almost 14 hours yesterday 😴

ssd · 13/07/2025 09:05

Glad you enjoyed transmit and Glasgow @lucysmam , I knew you'd like Glasgow. I was working yesterday and it was roasting, loads of youngsters walking to transmit passed my shop, I hope they all enjoyed it.
I'm still in bed, had my tea and toast. Am off out later, if its not too hot again.
Have a lovely last week at work @lucysmam

Rainbow1235 · 13/07/2025 09:08

morning lucysmam and to u all . Glad u had a lovely day yest . Today is another quiet day here as way too hot to do much so quik clean through and steak salads and new potatoes for dinner . At the moment tho I’m sat with a cuppa on the patio as it’s nice and cool but set to get boiling later . Wishing u all a great and safe day 🫶

WonsWoo · 13/07/2025 09:10

Glad you and DD had a good time @lucysmam .

Im sitting outside my caravan in Herefordshire with my coffee. We arrived yesterday at 2pm and it was 32°. Today’s forecast is high 20s so we will be mostly sitting and reading! I took DDog for a walk at 6.30 then went back to bed for a couple of hours. DH will cook breakfast on the Cadac at about 11. We’ll look for a takeaway for dinner.

Hoping it will cool a bit in the week so we can go and explore the area. We’re here for a week. I love being in my caravan. It’s so relaxing 😎

youreactinglikeafunmum · 13/07/2025 09:22

Good morning @lucysmam ❤️

Well, dd(6) has had some trouble with a wobbly tooth so is only eating soft foods. She's devouring a huge bowl of oatmeal (blended oats and frozen raspberries mixed with hot water - been her fave since she was a baby)

We're in bed, watching my beloved Two Doors Down on the tv and drinking squash

I moved my bed around so I have a better view of the window, plus there's lots of extra light, so enjoying that and feeling very thankful ☺️

Today, just cleaning up. With the big bed move, there remains a whole lot of mess.

I need to give away so much stuff, the first being a collection of books that carry bad vibes from their previous owner 🤷‍♀️

Have a lovely day all xx

DilemmaDelilah · 13/07/2025 09:23

Good morning @lucysmam and everyone.

I'm glad you enjoyed Trnsmt and Glasgow, but you must be exhausted! Have a lovely sleep when you get home.

I got my last pillows washed yesterday, but other than that I didn't do much. Today I'm going to Sainsburys to buy a short or something for my elderly demented uncle's birthday, then I will wrap it and get it ready to take to the post office tomorrow. My sisters are going to see him but I can't manage the 4 hour journey each way (they live closer), so I will just send a present. To be honest, he now has absolutely NO idea who we are, but I don't like to abandon him. I write him a letter every couple of weeks, which I am told he enjoys, but I'm sure he doesn't know who is writing or why.

I expect Mr Dilemma will find other stuff he/we need/want when we are in Sainsburys. He has already made noises about wanting Bombay Mix, and Morrison's couldn't supply my favourite flavour of Actimel last week. Tesco didn't have any either, so I'm not holding out too much hope. It's the 0% fat 0% sugar one with mango, goji berry and turmeric.

Nothing else planned - it's too hot!

CalicoPusscat · 13/07/2025 09:38

Happy Sunday people.

Off to Sainsbury's too.

Trying to soothe poor eyes which got sore in the sun yesterday. One wash to do which will dry in nanoseconds in the sun (near enough...) and I'm a bit more mentally alert today so may do some reading etc.

InglouriousBasterd · 13/07/2025 10:37

Morning all! I’ve got a horribly busy day after a really bad night’s sleep, so I’m lying here procrastinating. I need to go to the gym, work has been so busy I haven’t managed this week. I have an interview tomorrow so need to prep for that and also need to give this place a scrub, iron my outfit for tomorrow and hopefully watch the Wimbledon men’s final! Coffee it is…

frozendaisy · 13/07/2025 11:00

Good morning you crazy stop-out-and no sleep up @lucysmam (you are a trooper I think I would be crying in your position) hope you are almost at bed by now!

Almost sunburnt is still housebound but needs to work on a performance for tomorrow so will do that

Almost reclaimed my studio back so might finish a portrait I need to do for a calendar

I also want to work through “can you survive midsummer?” book, so far no, and I am supposed to be the policeman! - Crime would rule if I was in charge it transpires

easy cooking today - burger buns from dough in bread maker - they are the best buns - loaded burgers - basically chop up salad veg and slice a bit of cheese sauces do the rest

and slices of cold watermelon (just slicing)
voila dinner is served

cant wait for youngster to finish school (one week one and a half days) it’s weird having GCSE home and him not. This is first week GCSE has nothing in the week (last days at school, 2 sets of college induction, day visiting hospital 2 hours away) so will get him started on bridging work (x2)

plus a thousand house jobs you think I will do that in summer but then it’s too hot and we are very fair of skin - the sun hates us!

enjoy all

do love a hot slow summer Sunday

Hain72 · 13/07/2025 11:02

Going to watch cricket in Worcester at one of the most beautiful grounds in the country. No better way to spend a summer Sunday afternoon.

Selfsetfree · 13/07/2025 11:09

Morning all. I did to much procrastinating yesterday. So didn’t do my work so must do it today. I’m off for a swim again this afternoon. I’m going to walk the dog in a bit because it’s cooler. However I feel good for having a day to myself yesterday which was beneficial. I’ve done a bit of journaling this morning too.

Oasisafan · 13/07/2025 11:10

Melting 🫠

afaloren · 13/07/2025 11:10

Morning @lucysmam and everyone!

Got up early this morning to take advantage of the cooler temperature then just sat in the garden with the cat! Not much planned for today. Hoping the tennis is better than yesterday. Got plenty of leftovers to eat so no need to cook which is great. Just dispatched DH to the shop to stock up on Coke Zero and get some hair dye (for DH not me) so we’ll do that at some point. Not sure if the heat will make it work faster so need to make sure it doesn’t end up orange!

Taytocrisps · 13/07/2025 11:14

Good morning @lucysmam and the Saturday/Sunday morning posters. Glad you enjoyed Trnsmt @lucysmam. I had to google it to find out what it was. A long and tiring journey though. Are you a primary school teacher or secondary school teacher? I'm always amazed at how short your school holidays are. Our secondary schools finish up at the end of May (except for exam years) and the primary schools finish up at the end of June.

I have Covid, so I've been stuck home for the past few days. I'm all mixed up about what day it is. It was 30 degrees here yesterday, which is mega hot for Ireland and way too hot for me. So I'm going to stay indoors. Well, not that I can go very far anyway.

I stayed up very late watching Live Aid (Part One) and then my cats were kicking up a commotion early this morning. I got up and fed them and had breakfast. Think I'm going to head back to bed in a bit.

I cooked dinner yesterday, so I just have to bung it in the microwave.

I need to clean out the fridge though.

I might read a bit of my book.

Really looking forward to Live Aid (Part Two) tonight.

I got DD to pick me up some cans of 7 Up for a gin and 7 Up later. Obviously they were sold out of ice. I'll try making ice cubes with the plastic ice cube tray. I'm still a bit bunged up, so I won't overindulge.

DD didn't get to see her boyfriend all week (she had Covid too), so she's all excited to drive over and see him today.

DCat1 is on tablets and isn't impressed that his food tastes funny. He's gone on a bit of a hunger strike. I've two cats and it's a pain trying to feed them separately. He's napping on top of one of the armchairs

DCat2 stayed out all night. She does it once or twice a year, on the warmest of nights. She's napping on top of the other armchair.

RabbitsRock · 13/07/2025 12:01

Afternoon @lucysmam & the Sunday Crew! Glad you enjoyed the festival lucysmam. Just having my 2nd cuppa & watching the rabbits. My oldest boy is hopping in & out of the kitchen. He & his doe have had strawberries which they enjoyed. I had some at the picnic yesterday. Really ripe & juicy. Unloaded/loaded the dishwasher & will put a load of washing on once I’ve added DD’s bits. She’s gone out for a walk. DH has just finished cleaning out the hutches & is chilling in front of The Tour de France. Work surfaces need a wipe down & I should really run the Henry round. Think the beaches are to be avoided today as everywhere will be rammed so I’ll sit in the garden with a book. We were too hot for steaks last night & may well decide not to have them tonight. Will play it by ear. At least they have a far ahead date on them. There are burgers in the freezer but they’re the sort that need defrosting for 12 hours. We’ll watch the rest of Live Aid at some point. Missed the first couple of hours & didn’t see it through to 1am. Also want to see the programmes about the idea behind Live Aid & Band Aid. Oh & The Lionesses v Wales ⚽️🇬🇧🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿
Just to report that DD did have my charger! It’s scary how well she lies! Like her default setting. My hairbrush was also missing so I went into her room whilst she was out & spotted it on the bed. When I lifted up the duvet, there was my charger plugged into the extension thingy. DD asked me why I’d been in her room & I told her I was retrieving my brush. She’d shot herself in the foot by saying she hadn’t got the charger so could hardly accuse me of taking it 🤣 It’s now not leaving my sight!
Almost forgot that DD is hopefully going to do my toenails “ properly”, using the UVA lamp etc. She wants to do nail art at college & gets in quite a bit of practice. Her own fingernails have stunning designs but are WAY too long for my liking!

Thislittlekitten · 13/07/2025 12:17

Afternoon Sunday Gang

So glad you and DD had fun @lucysmam. Definitely deserve a nap when home. Glasgow is fantastic city and you must go back and explore.

I had a lie in today as was out for a few drinks last night. DH took Ddog for an early walk and woke me with a bacon roll!

We have a friend coming round for the day so finishing tidying and DH making stuff for a BBQ. The kids and cats are flopped out on various beds. Another hot day in Scotland but defo a bit cooler and I’m so glad. My Scottish skin and body are not coping 🤣

Home made pizzas tonight if we don’t have leftovers and reading my book. Think I have a car issue developing so that’s tomorrow’s worry. Annoying as I have lots of stuff to take to charity shops.

MissMarplesNiece · 13/07/2025 12:21

Afternoon to all on this thread. Glad you enjoyed the music festival @lucysmam.

I got up feeling energetic and ended up moving furniture around and giving the sitting room a good vacuum. I am now no longer feeling energetic and am collapsed on the sofa with a coffee.

DH will make lunch and this afternoon I'm going to visit DSis - if I've got some strength back in my arms & legs, lol.

mamaduckbone · 13/07/2025 12:28

Good afternoon @lucysmam and all.
I've had a slow, lazy morning after my pre-50th birthday bbq yesterday - a tiny bit jaded but it was a lovely day / evening so feeling very lucky and content.

We've done the last bits of tidying up although we managed most of it last night, and I've got as far as deadheading the roses, drinking coffee and watching the wheelchair tennis final.
I need to muster some energy to get the last of the holiday laundry done - we go on Tuesday.

Good luck with the last week and a bit of school @lucysmam - we finished on Friday and it's a good feeling😊

I love Two Doors Down too! It’s my go to when I need a comfort watch!!

Bluevelvetsofa · 13/07/2025 12:36

Just watched the Red Arrows go right over the top of our house, in V formation with smoke and everything!

Its the best! They're doing a Christmas special and apparently doing another series xx

Rainbow1235 · 13/07/2025 13:33

I’m thrilled to hear this about two doors down as I absolutely love it and have watched them all loads of times

TheyreLikeUsButRichAndThin · 13/07/2025 13:37

Love these threads!

5:30 woke up, tried to go back to sleep as was working 9am-11pm yesterday! Couldn’t though so at

7:00 went into other bedroom where DH was with DD and we watched telly together

9:30 ish helped both boys with their piano practise and did some decluttering

11:30 boys came back from piano lesson with 2 of their friends, they have since been in and out of the pool and gaming and we have just had a BBQ

Friends being picked up at 2, then we’re gonna try and watch a movie although the kids never last!

Me and DH out to new local restaurant tonight for first date in ages!!

lucysmam · 13/07/2025 15:51

@ssdI bet we walked past it too! Where do you work? It was very hot yesterday - lots of water & sunscreen for us! We definitely need to come back and explore properly.

@frozendaisy I think the half nap on the coach helped.

@Taytocrisps I'm a primary school TA.

I've been back up an hour or so - not doing anything much. Sort my tablets for the week, shower, put away the things I had in my tiny bag yesterday, tea (bacon sarny), back to bed. I doubt I'll do much else.
