Are these verrucas? Pic included - sorry

Apologies for the pic.

In the past week, the centre of the sole of my right foot has been very itchy but couldn’t really notice anything other than what looks like a bit of athlete’s foot around my toes.

Today two dots have appeared exactly where the itching was.

There’s a third dot nearer my toes.

Are these verrucas?

I haven’t been anywhere barefoot in a public place for years. I had a reflexology massage recently, that’s it.

They don't really look like ones I have seen, and I don't think they're usually itchy? Looks like some kind of raised rash, I get itchy rashes on the side of my feet sometimes that have bumps like that

mechanicalpencil · 12/07/2025 22:05

Just to add, I’ve never had a verruca before.

@popcornpower2025 ok, that’s a relief thank you, yes that’s what I was thinking… I’ve never had it before. I can feel little bumps under the skin ..

They don't look like verrucas.

mechanicalpencil · 12/07/2025 22:24

Ok, thank you. Any idea on what they could be?

@mechanicalpencilhave a look at pompholyx on the nhs website - could be the beginnings of that. It’s a form of localised eczema. GP advice needed if it seems possible!

Slightyamusedandsilly · 12/07/2025 22:31

They could be seed corns. Tiny little corns, don't grow to the size of big ones. I get them on the bottom of my feet.

If I soak my feed really well, sometimes in the bath I can scratch them off / out.

mechanicalpencil · 12/07/2025 22:54

@Walkacrossthesand @Slightyamusedandsilly both of those look likely possibilities, thanks.

@Slightyamusedandsilly are seed corns under the skin?

I had what I thought was verrucas recently and they were seed corns. Apparently, it happens as you age, particularly if you walk around in bare foot on hard floors. They were just beginning to bother me, I could feel them, little hard things in the centre of the ball of my foot so I had them removed by a podiatrist

Slightyamusedandsilly · 12/07/2025 23:42

Slightly under the skin I think. Or just embedded because they're hard. Hence soaking the foot softens the skin around them while they stay hard and you can pick them out - sometimes.

Try using Canesten for athlete's foot. Could be a type of allergic reaction to the athlete's foot. Pompholyx?
