I'm fucking done. My 2 small DC have a diarrhea and sickness bug, in THIS heat! This is what hell is made of I know it. My house stinks of shit, we're all feeling minging and festering in our own sweat. Only minor plus side is I've been able to wash and dry all the bedding on the line. My OH took one for the team and hung it out for me. I may have died. No exaggeration

That is absolutely horrific 😲 hope they're recovering. I'm just very headachey and miserable, that sounds far worse!

im thinking of going to a hotel. My bum is so sore because its affected my bowel issues. The flat got well into the 30s glastonbury weekend. im having to have baths (no shower) to cool down and because im too sore to wipe properly. Flat always gets 4 to 5 degrees hotter than it is outside. Im just concentrating on surviving at the moment so no housework, no cleaning and certainly no humping stuff around for contractors. They can reap what they sowed.

My 89 year old DMs legs have swelled up badly. She phoned me in tears earlier. I wonder how many are going to end up in A&E. I wonder what the NHS take on air con is!

CalicoPusscat · 13/07/2025 20:36

I tried ventilating my stuffy bedroom earlier but it didn't work very well 🙄

I have places to go, dammit!

Someone on here suggested bowl full of ice cubes, does that work? Supermarkets shut now but I could try it tomorrow

JenniferBooth · 13/07/2025 22:41

now shit is like lava had to take Imodium because im just too sore. #livinginaSanctuarysauna

JenniferBooth · 13/07/2025 22:47

and if im like that on Wednesday the contractor wont be able to get into the bathroom anyway

I've hung old sheets in the windows as an extra layer of insulation when the sun is on them. Shut the curtains when the sun is round. (It gets to 40 degrees in the sun if not)

No point shutting windows to keep the cool in as it is not cool. (Walls etc have heated up now) (Did at the start but not now)

Windows open all the time. (Higher floor so safeish) (If they climb in they would tread on me. ) (Only the little windows open)

No Hoovering, toaster, oven, hob, very little washing up. (Only on the cooler days)

When kids are out down to bikini layer. (Curtains shut)

Use the doors to push air through the flat so that the hot air is pushed out as there is no through breeze

Still it is 28-30 degrees.

Doubt we would be allowed air con. Strict controls on the appearance of the building.

Dove soap is less irritating on diarrhoea arse /UTI undercarriage than normal soap.

Try nappy cream?

BlackeyedSusan · 13/07/2025 22:55

I'm off to flap more doors to push hot air out.

And open curtains near the open window once the lights are out to let cooler air in. Not before. Too many bugs.

ninjahamster · 13/07/2025 22:56

i take 200mg sertraline daily so the heat really affects me. Even my head sweats! Sleeping really badly as the fog is too hot donis huffing and puffing all night and shining to go out in the cool. Absolutely knackered as been started back on antipsychotics that make me feel shit.

thank you Flowers agree about Dove soap. I have Anusol both in the ointment and the cream, and a new pot of Sudocrem as i had the same problem in the 34c heatwave.

Hope it cools down at yours soon too.

My fan was keeping me just about sane but stopped working on Friday night. It hit 34 here on Saturday, managed to buy a desk usb small fan from the supermarket. New large fan being delivered today but it has come at the worst time financially for me which equals more stress.

On Thursday I woke up with a migraine, splitting head, vision disturbances and a lovely session of throwing up. There is nothing nice about this weather for me.

Drenched in sweat so pajamas have to be washed everyday and pillows damp but warm. Not getting hardly any sleep. Ugh, it is hideous. This weather literally makes me ill.
