Looking for 4 nights somewhere warm in October - Lanzarote?

Hi everyone, we want somewhere that's t-shirt weather (can't see us sunbathing!) and has family restaurants/beach/marina/water somehow!
Is it worth going to Lanzarote - thought of it because we want a short flight - and if so, can you recommend a place to go?

Thanks

I'd definitely recommend it, I love Lanzarote. I've been on long weekends there in December to get an injection of sunshine. I'd recommend Playa Blanca. Weather should be around 23-25 degrees that time of year

Morocco or Egypt. Both fab!

Love Lanzarote and will second Playa Blanca. Bee in October and it’s was around 25 degrees. Evenings ok too. Maybe take a light top or hoody for the kids.

If you have small kids then find a hotel with a heated pool.

Yes, Lanzarote is nice. Or Cyprus, perhaps. Or Madeira.

BadActors · 11/07/2025 20:47

Thanks everyone. I'll look into the other suggestions as well.

I couldn’t be arsed to fly to the Canaries for just 4 nights, the Costa del sol would be my option. Shorter flight and easy transfers.

Lanzarote is great but there are places with shorter flights that would be t-shirt weather in October. Have been to Seville, Granada, Portugal in October/November and had beautiful weather

@Its1971Again Hi, I'm assuming you've been to Madeira and hoping you can recommend somewhere? We don't have young kids so just want somewhere close to water and a nice place to stay - a villa would be lovely!

Madeira is as long a flight as the Canaries with the added risk of weather conditions meaning you could be diverted to Tenerife which would be crap for a four day break. The airport has a location that means it's prone to be unusable in high winds, etc.

TarquinsTurnips · 11/07/2025 21:19

I've booked Barcelo Lanzarote Active in Costa Teguise in mid November.

Make sure the pool is heated. Some won't heat until winter which is November in the canaries.

Yes, I've been to Madeira a couple of times, though not for quite a few years, I think the last time was 2005.
We preferred the northern part of the island. We stayed in Boaventura which was very picturesque. However, not near a beach.

NeedToKnow101 · 12/07/2025 18:59

Palma in Mallorca. Flight is only around two hours

BadActors · 12/07/2025 19:12

Hi all, we've decided on Crete!

So, now looking for recommendations for two 50 year olds who are just looking for a nice area with nice restaurants and close to the sea. We don't want lots of English restaurants etc.

Thanks

Portomare is a nice hotel in Maderia.

Lurkingandlearning · 12/07/2025 19:15

For 4 days I’d go to Spain or Gibraltar. The flights are shorter

LividVermiciousKnid · 12/07/2025 19:17

I've been to Crete in October and we had two nice days and the rest was rain. Quite warm rain, but not really holiday weather. And it was winding up the season.

Lanzarote is more of a year round place, though of course you might get lucky with Crete, but I'd say it was more of a gamble.

Puppalicious · 12/07/2025 19:29

Crete is lovely. I would say Chania or near rather than near Heraklion - which airport are you flying into?

Puppalicious · 12/07/2025 19:30

Lanzarote is fine but Crete much nicer in terms of culture, pretty towns, food, sea
