Power of Attorney Bank Card

DemonsRocks · 11/07/2025 14:12

I've just become POA for DMs finance. All gone through with the bank ok but the bank card issued doesn't have POA or anything to distinguish it from my own bank card.

Can I mark the card (not near the strip or signature)?

A friend has cards with 'Friend POA' on it so I know it is done in some banks. Mine just has my name.

I could always leave that bank card at home but the whole point was using it for her purchases and she could see it on her statement. Rather than me buying things then just transferring the money back into my bank.

Even if I was a different colour it would help. Any ideas?

Sticker on it that you can remove? Like a star or something?

I’d also try and train myself to remember the first couple of digits of one of them, or the expiry date.

Just write on it or put a sticker on it. I keep my mum’s card in a different part of my purse.

Have you got a little sticker you could put on it? I would just memorise the last 4 numbers of my card so know the other one is Mum's and keep in a separate place in purse/handbag.

Snap!

They have different numbers surely you can use one as an identifier? Or add one to Apple Pay and don’t use the card

I would go with writing or a sticker on it. Do you have an app that would allow you to freeze/unfreeze her card so that it is never accidentally used?

Arlanymor · 11/07/2025 18:20

They have different numbers, so memorise one set, even if it’s just the security code - it’s only three digits.

I just wrote tpm (third party member) on the strip where I signed it, never had any problems.

Holidaysandchocolate · 11/07/2025 18:58

I’ve written on the front of the card to my mum’s account with a sharpie “Mum’s card”

A sticker does seem obvious! Thanks everyone.

I don't use a purse, just keep my cards in the inside zip pocket of my bag. I'll pick up a little cardholder to keep it separate aswell.
