I miss being care-free

I have teen DC, job, house, DH. Between us we manage:
weekly food shopping
house cleaning/tidying/sorting
bills/finance
dc - schools/lifts/clubs/hobbies/dinners and a whole load of other needs

would love to be able to just take off for a long weekend/week on a whim.

Next year DC (15&18 who has SEN) have said they don't to do a beach type holiday and instead only want to go skiing as a family. We really do no want to miss out on a beach holiday and would live to go away for a week just us 2, but there is no one to look after DC. Going to friends is not an option.

If your 18-year-old didn’t have SEN I’d be thinking “well surely they can stay at home then, given your eldest is an adult?” - but then, I also realise it’s going to be a very individual decision based on how responsible the older one is, and if you can trust them not to burn the house down or have mad parties while you’re away.

Mine are much younger but honestly I’d expect to be able to leave them for a week at that age; I’d ask a family member or neighbour to drop in every now and again to keep tabs on things though. And I’d do video calls every day Grin

Go away for a weekend on your own leaving your DH in charge?
