Does anyone remember the 80's TV show 'It's a knockout?'

What a bloody funny show that was. I remember it so well and I would watch it with my brother and parents and we would absolutely be creased and crying with laughter. 😂

I remember them wearing big massive costumes and having to race and barely being able to run in them and falling all over the place.

God it was great TV. 😂

It's still going France as "Intervilles," the 2025 season has just started...

I remember thinking it was rubbish. Bizarre and just odd. Used to turn it over for the more entertaining emu or similar.

The international one was brilliant... Germany always seemed to win, approaching the most ridiculous of games with the focused determination of Olympic athletes.

Yes, I remember once thinking my mother was going to die of laughter whilst watching an episode (this was shortly after somebody died of laughter whilst wataching an episode of the Goodies!) Thankfully, she didn’t and is still alive to this day.

Stuart Hall, though 😡

I remember “It’s a Royal Knockout”. Started me off in my lifetime commitment to Republicanism….….

Very different to the normal series. The everyday one was brilliant.

thanks to pp for pointing out it started in the 60s, i was a) a bit young and b) abroad with no access to British tv at the time.

Hall used to "joke" that the Germans attacked with a relentlessness and always wanted to win, the Italians used to cheat etc etc.

I stayed in Biel/Bienne (Switzerland) many years ago, and in the restaurant we ate in there were several glass cabinets with trophys in that the town had won over the years. Real fun looking at them.

The UK team often came from places like Ely and Bedford, and often at least one member was the manager of the local sports centre.

Loved it as a kid in the 70’s and 80’s then watched the international editions shown on Kate night cable in the 90’s French channel I think, it seemed to come on after eurotrash if you switched the channel, and of course hilarious AFTER the pub!
