First world problem I know but I’m fed up having to cut the ends off .

Bertinet in Waitrose!

I just grill it instead, I think it tastes a tiny bit better grilled anyway.

Jason’s ciabattin

flowersandfoil · 07/07/2025 12:08

Jason’s sourdough?

I buy the large white sourdough loaf from lidl bakery. It's not pre-sliced, but sliced across it fits in the toaster perfectly. I think it's £1.99 per loaf.

qotsa · 07/07/2025 12:19

Also came on to say Jason’s ciabattin. Often get it as one of my SmartShop nectar prices at £1.69 too.

Have you tried making it? It's pretty easy when you get the hang of it. I don't have any of the fancy equipment and I just plop it in a loaf pan and it comes out great.

Thankyou all . I’m heartened to know such a shape exists , off to Waitrose

Gail’s. You ask them to slice it.

SociableAtWork · 07/07/2025 13:21

IKR - so annoying! I chop the slices in half - yes, with scissors - and freeze the loaf, then risk electrocution digging them out the toaster, but I’m nowhere near a Waitrose 😂

JassyRadlett · 07/07/2025 13:23

I bought a long slice toaster instead so I can toast whatever bread I like? They are bizarrely uncommon in the UK though, really hard to find a good two slice one.

hollyivy123 · 07/07/2025 13:33

I just toast mine in the airfryer. I have a large airfryer with one big basket which seperates into two and I use the whole space. I can 'toast' 3 of those long slices that way

RossGellersCat · 07/07/2025 13:48

Also came to say Jason's, which you can buy in Asda. My only observation is that slices are very small (but do consequently fit in a toaster!) 😉

Pancakewaffle · 07/07/2025 14:01

I buy the Jason's sourdough and just slice it in half before putting in the toaster - half fits perfectly. Otherwise the Jason's ciabatti but that's not as easy to get hold of where we are.

murasaki · 07/07/2025 14:19

I put mine in the toaster (Jason's) then after it pops up turn it upside down for another couple of minutes, seems to come out fine, aka the middle bit doesn't get over done.

murasaki · 07/07/2025 14:20

I don't ike the taste of the ciabatta as much. Not sure why.

hattie43 · 07/07/2025 15:04

Thanks everyone I’ve been out to buy some Jason’s
