I need shoes help for European summer city break!

Going to Porto at end of July. We will probably be going to the beach one or two days but also quite a bit of walking around the city.
I was going to ask for lightweight trainer recommendations, but on second thoughts maybe I should be looking at sandals? I will be travelling fairly light so don’t want to take loads of shoes, but nothing worse than uncomfortable feet. I am not one of those people who can wear flip flops for everything all day long, they rip my feet to shreds.

Wise shoe advice hugely appreicated pls!

I would take one pair of trainers was and one pair of sandals. Fitflop are very comfy and many smart enough to wear with dresses in the evening. I’d wear the trainers on the plane as they will take up more room in a suitcase.

Teva’s I wish I’d had them abroad last year . I walked 9 miles in a hot day with leather trainers, my feet swelled up so much that my toenails are still black a year later. I had to go and buy sandals as I couldn’t bear anything touching my toenails.

Tevas for sure. I've worn mine abroad the last four summers, including long days of walking, and whilst in the sea at rocky beaches, and they're still going strong.

Agree with Teva’s. Really comfortable for walking in the heat.

I love fitflops. So comfortable and stop my back hurting.

Thanks all! Okay, Tevas now on my list! Can anyone recommend a lightweight ‘fashion’ trainer that is also comfortable to walk in?

I'm in Porto at the minute - it's very hilly! My 'comfy' sandals did start to rub earlier. Will be putting trainers on tomorrow.
