Cannot give too much information, and not a question but want to vent. 3 years ago a young family member was abducted and held against their will and raped. Awful, awful time going forward for everyone close and victim. CPS have said yes enough evidence to go for prosecution in Crown Court. At the 18mth mark victim videoed their statement/evidence and two family member plus one other person were told they had to attend court but weren’t told when, eventually it would be 4 years from the attack. Two months before court it has been postponed due to lack of court space. New date 6 years from the attack.
How is this right? This whole time the attacker is out and about doing god knows what.
No wonder ppl don’t report and have faith in a system like this. Unbelievable.

That is shocking. Must be so distressing for your relative.

I did jury duty on a historical rape ( that was reported at the time) the child was 8 at the time and 13 when it came to court. The mother was raped, the child was sexually assaulted. It is such a long time, almost half her life for the child. It was the father and he was sentenced to 14 years and was never allowed to contact any of his children again. The pair of them were very brave to wait it out.

Thanks for your replies @SingingSands @Doggymummar it just feels so long, whilst others eg the two who assaulted police officers at an airport last year have already been to court, sentenced and are already in prison.
In the case of my relatives, they will wait it out definitely as even if it doesn’t go their way, the accused will be put through the discomfort and inconvenience of court at the very least and they feel like it is their public duty too.
