I have bought two, both from Furniture Village, nothing but problems with the first one, reselected and bought GPlan, excellent quality. If you want sofas to last buy Gplan, Parker Knoll etc, cost more but it’s worth it. And ALWAYS take the finance option, if you have a problem the finance company with assist with a resolution. If you pay cash the retailer won’t want to know, so use finance or credit card for big purchases.

I have one from Sofa.com and am waiting for one from Loaf in a week. The sofa.com had excellent customer service and is good quality. As yet don't know about the Loaf one, I can report back next week. So far, customer service has been brilliant.

We bought the Joules Patterdale sofas (a two seater , a three seater and a pouffe) in Coral and Pumpkin as we like cheerful colours. Had the upgraded seat cushions.
I LOVE them (had them 18m now) and will get a third when our other sofa (a DFS patchwork shout) finally dies.
They are super comfy and whatever they treat them with works... a little suede brush has got off all manner of child and dog related marks! www.dfs.co.uk/patterdale/ptd13adxv?langId=-1&skuId=5904766

Darlings of Chelsea. They have some branches other than Chelsea. The Fleet range, which is classic. We were able to go to one of the showrooms. They have a massive range of colours and types of fabric. They are more expensive than average, but are doing interest free credit.

Invested in the Ligne Roset Ploum sofa in the light pink colour

I bought two really cheap velvet sofas from Daals because our old one had fallen apart. Ended up giving one to DS when he moved into a flat of his own. They are five years old now and still look absolutely new. They are very light. They don't have that sturdy weight of a really well made sofa. But they do the job.

We bought a g-plan sofa a couple of years ago and it's been nothing but trouble. Must have been a "friday afternoon" job!

Upon delivery we noticed a big "bobble" on one arm as soon as it was delivered. Delivery men just shrugged and said to contact the store. We phoned the store and they just fobbed us off giving us the customer service number of G Plan. Eventually some subcontractor came out and had a look and tried to argue it was "normal" to have bobbles, but we insisted and he then said he'd "try to persuade" G plan to replace the arm covering. Which they did.

Then we noticed the recliner was really juddery and noisy, so we called them out again. The guy nearly broke the mechanism as all he did was upturn it and started hitting the struts with a hammer! Then he said it must be the motor (which we knew it wasn't) so he replaced the motor, and it was just the same. Lots of huffing and puffing and he said he'd have to report back to G Plan to ask for technical advice as to how to fit it! He came back several more times and messed around with it but never managed to fix the judders and noise. Eventually, he claimed he'd managed to "persaude" G Plan to replace the mechanism, so he then turned up a few weeks later with a whole new mechanism and spent most of the day messing with it, but it was clear he hadn;t a clue what he was doing and ended up leaving it in pieces! Finally, several months later, someone from G Plan came to actually fix it - which he did in less than an hour as he actually knew what he was doing.

Unfortunately, for us, G PLan customer service was appalling as they just kept sending out their sub contracted guy as a kind of "odd job man" to mess around and all he could really do was unzip and replace the damaged piece of cloth on the arm. I presume he'd also be the guy to do the cleaning under their stain guard contract - he certainly wasn;t any kind of mechanical expert!

Son bought a sofa from Sofology, from the shop floor when they were having a clearance sale, with promised delivery within 2 weeks. In the end is was 4 MONTHS before he finally got it, and even then it was marked and stained! They kept making delivery appointments but then not turning up - break downs, an accident, driver sick - it was just one excuse after another, and it was impossible to expedite re-tries as you were just back to the bottom of the queue every time so there was always a 2-3 week wait before they could fit in a delivery again.

We bought a corner sofa from Roseland. We needed a specific size and shape and they were the only ones who did exactly what we needed. The price was good and it's very comfy and holding up pretty well so far - a bit squeaky but nothing drastic. The velour/ velvet fabric is also stain resistant and the covers can be machine washed which is a bonus!

Bought sofas for comfort, not style (one of DC’s friends said “they’re just like grandma’s”) from furniture village. They’re nearly 3 years old now. Very comfy, one is a recliner function and I’m so glad I paid for that. 3 DC so a lot of use.

still our comfiest sofa is our 25 year old SCS one.

Passionfloweronthefence · 05/07/2025 20:37

Scs grey leather corners sofa. Head support, lumbar support and recliners.

Bloody wonderful. Was called something like Elwick and about £4000

Corner sofa from SCS. Heard so many horror stories after we ordered about how bad/ unreliable / poor quality they were but all went smoothly and the sofa is fab! Maybe we were just lucky?

Whatareyoutalkingaboutnow · 05/07/2025 20:44

We've got a Parker Knoll sofa, from a local independent furniture store. Extremely comfortable.

Are people pleased with their Loaf sofas?

Also interested to hear about the quality of John Lewis as I quite like the style of the Bude sofa, if colours were available.

We got ours from SCS. So comfortable but the Swatch didn't show the colour properly. I'm not happy with the colour so have covered with throws.
Can't afford to replace the 3 seater and it would be ashame to replace the 2 seater as hardly anyone sits on it.
