NEBOSH General Certificate - what job do you do?

Hi,

I work in a role that is now going to fund me doing a NEBOSH general certificate two week course. I love my job and NEBOSH will be extremely advantageous to my current role.

Just wondering if you have the NEBOSH general cert under your belt, what job or industry do you work in? Looking for ideas for when redundancies take a hold at our place (academia).

TIA.

I have the NEBOSH construction certificate and I’m a health and safety consultant. Been doing it for ten years now & I enjoy it!

I got it 2 years ago and it enabled me to get my current role as a h&s Advisor in the transport industry, it has opened many doors and is the industry standard. Great they’re paying for it for you.

That sounds interesting, I may look at further self-funding a specialised course after I've completed my NEBOSH, I'll see how it goes. Just relieved work have agreed to pay for the qualification given the current climate.

Brilliant, I'm so glad to hear it's opened doors for you. This is exactly what I want to hear as I am nervous about job losses over the next 12 months.

I was a H&S instructor when I took the qualification and I’m now a strategic estate manager

Sorry, I don't want to sound daft but what does that entail? The strategic estate manager?

Don’t use it any more but had/have the qualification and used to repair pumps at sewage pumping stations, inspect lifting equipment at sewage pumping stations, repair rising mains. Sorry, realised mine was the construction one, not the general one. Ignore me 😁

I’ve got a NEBOSH General certificate, then also a NEBOSH Diploma. I’m a health and safety consultant running my own business and had to fund it all myself and also the time off work, so if you can get it paid for then go for it!

These sound like interesting careers for sure
