Where would you live if you were me?

I’m in my 20s and feel a bit lost with life after going through something difficult at work. I’m single and my friends/family are mainly in London, some are in the midlands.

I rent an apartment in Manchester City centre after I went university here, but feel like I have outgrown the space and the area. I’m thinking of relocating but I’m not sure where to go! There’s no reason for me to stay up north as I mainly socialise with colleagues - ideally I’d rather move back to London.

However, I can’t stay with family. I earn just under £50k now in data science, but I’m not sure if that’s enough for renting in London alone.

I would considering somewhere cheaper down south nearish London, but I wouldn’t know anyone in the residential areas so I would be moving all alone which seems a bit scary!

any advice appreciated

I'd bite the bullet and move as close to zone 1 as you can. You'll be able to rent a small one bed flat on your salary

I'm early 30s and moved to zone 2 with my dd - already the best decision! ❤️

Can you do a small house share? I rented a couple of two bed flats which was much more civilised than large house shares.
