So stuck on baby girl name

How do you find one?!

We have a short list of 5 but honestly none are quite right! And I’m tired of trawling “top 100 baby names in U.K.” and finding nothing else

How did you decide on a name?!!!

I think you just have to go with the name that you like the sound of and that goes with your last name, that's what I did.
There are so many names out there, and It's a lot of pressure to look for the one name that you think you love and then you worry that you might not love it later or that your child won't be happy with.
I chose a first, and a middle name that sounded good with our last name because that was important to me.
DH liked the names too, which was good as he had left the naming to me!
My DD has always liked her name, has never said she wished she had a different name, and honestly once your DD is here and you've settled on her name she will become that name, you will love the name because it belongs to her, and chances are good that you won't look back :)

What are your 5? Might guide us to suggestions

I’ve tried this too 🙈

Have you looked at any credits on the newer Disney films? They have a section for production babies and I think there are some great choices from what I have seen x

They’re all classics I guess ish Charlotte, Annabelle, Lily, Aurelia, Sophia Isabel. I honestly think I’ve exhausted the lists of possible names. It’s more how do we decide when we aren’t 100% set 🙈 I get swayed if I know or knew someone by the name too. Can’t help it!

I liked to google the old English names or top names of 1885 for example. They give some great variety. For example, I found Ailith pronounced Ay-lith when I was last looking at names. Baby was a boy so I didn’t use it but I still love it and I’ve never heard it anywhere since.

Hohofortherobbers · 02/07/2025 23:04

Looking at your 5 I will throw in
Georgia
Cleo
Roseanna
Bella
Fleur

If I had another girl she would be Elodie.

InterestedBeing · 03/07/2025 00:06

Maybe there isn't a perfect name for you. There isn't a name you rate above all others. And that is fine.

Just choose something you like. It doesn't have to be perfect.

Names i would have chosen for a girl:

Alexandra

Beatrice

Talitha - quite a rare one from the new testament. Can't find many others with that.
