Manchester Areas Semi-Rural

We used to live near to Manchester (Cheadle) and I disliked how built up it was. We looked at Woodford just before we needed to move out of Greater Manchester for new jobs. We may now be moving back into the area but I’m hoping people can throw some recommendations of areas for us to look at. I want more rural than C.H., but still close to places to shop and links to the centre. I don’t really want any of the Rochdale/Heywood/Oldham areas, just knowing they can be nightmares with traffic (although good Manchester train links). Really we want south or west Manchester.

So I'm Bramhall so not far from where you were originally.

Have you looked at Marple? It still has train links to Manchester but is more rural.

Other options could be Disley and further out is Prestbury

Do you need to consider schools (or future schools)at all? You probs know that the Trafford grammars are great but can be v competitive. I know you don’t want Cheadle Hume but being in catchment for Cheadle Hulme High is worth considering. Fallibroome Academy is another decent comp with a feeder school in Prestbury

Didsbury
Marple

Hayfield
Disley nice but traffic horrendous
