Decent hotel near Alton Towers

Onsite hotels are really expensive, can anyone recommend a hotel near by that’s clean and serves decent breakfast? Theres a million to look at online but I don’t know the area at all

I'm local to Alton Towers and these would be my recommendations:
Whiston Hall (fabulous breakfast, beautiful grounds) about 10 mins drive to Alton Towers
The Duncombe Arms (amazing food) again about a 10 min drive
The Royal Oak in Ashbourne (not as 'posh' as the previous suggestions but great food, lovely beer garden and close to town and shops etc) About 15 mins drive

or if these are out of budget then there's a premier inn in Leek which is a nice town, lots of independent shops/cafes/restaurants etc. That's about a 20 minute drive. Ashbourne also has a Holiday Inn.

Hope that helps narrow it down a bit!

Pretty sure we stopped in a Travelodge in Ashbourne a few years ago and was very pleased with it.
