If you had a free day tomorrow...

I have a day to myself tomorrow where dc are in nursery/ school and my original plans have fallen through. It's to be a bit of a wash out weather wise but I don't want to spend it at home so welcoming ideas of nice ways to spend it as I'd like to treat myself a little (without breaking the bank) since this never really happens!

So if you had a free day to treat yourself/ relax tomorrow what would you do?

Favourite food as a picnic in the park. A walk round and maybe stop for a coffee with my kindle.

Where do you live that it’s a bit of a wash out weather wise?

Most of the country is having a heatwave!

It's warm here but it's to rain heavily all day. I'm not on the mainland.

Lunch out and somewhere after with a good book and the best hot chocolate if the weather is crap.

You might have to give us a clue where you are and whether you can travel off the island where you live.

Given that here it is going to be scorching, I'd go for an early walk before it gets too hot and buy some nice picnic food to take somewhere I can swim outside in unheated water like a lido, sea pool or supervised lake.

Have you got any interesting museums or galleries nearby, or a stately home.
I'd have a trip out to somewhere like that.

If funds allowed, maybe have lunch out, though Monday can be a bit of let down in that respect.

I would do this too. It feels nice to do something in elegant or cultural surroundings where you don't have to run after kids. Throw in a cream tea and a good book - heaven!

My ideal day to myself on a rainy day would be: gallery, lunch, little walk, massage, cinema. Ugh I want to do that now!!

middleagedandinarage · 29/06/2025 22:11

I would head into town, walk round the shops and nice lunch out then home in time to catch Escape to the Country with a big cup of tea before the kids get back.

middleagedandinarage · 30/06/2025 20:53

Please tell us what you landed up doing op?

Ideaspleas · 30/06/2025 21:40

So sadly I woke up with a really bad upset stomach, dropped the kids off and then crawled back into bed. I did manage to do a little life admin I'd been putting off in the afternoon which made me feel sliiightly better about what a waste of a day off it was! But at least I've lots of lovely ideas for the next time. 😭

Poor you! Sometimes a day of doing nothing is not a waste, it’s just what you need. Next time!

SwishMyCape · 30/06/2025 21:46

Ah- rubbish for you! Feel better soon
