What is this Vinted scam?

On Vinted there are loads of really amazing things like brand new Dyson hair drier, make up sets etc but for really weird specific prices like £8.98/£6.78 etc and they also have no reviews.

Obviously too good to be true but what exactly does the seller get out of this? I'm sure if you order you won't get the goods BUT then the seller doesn't get paid so what exactly do they get out of it?

My husband had something similar he got sent a phone case instead of some gadget. we where very lucky as we where about to leave for a holiday when it turned up. Had we not checked the parcel with in the 2 days Vinted wouldn’t have refund us instantly. I think they hope you won’t check your parcel and then the buyer can claim your lying about not receiving it.

Maybe it's also that people will order stuff then go on holiday so won't be at home to check what arrives, or they will order while they are away and same thing happens. You don't have many days to check what you get.

This happened to me recently where I ordered a coat on Vinted, but it arrived while I was away. Luckily dh was at home so I got him to check it and send me photos of how it looked and it was fine, but it did make me think that was a bit risky to do that.

I contacted Vinted to report what I believe to be a scam on mens tshirts. No reviews et, etc. Vinted did nothing to investigate despite my searches now being choked with this rubbish. I am reluctant to sell as the item will barely be seen amongst the trash.

The last week has been awful, every day my feed is flooded with scam posts.
