iphone is lost and off. When using find my ipad it remembers the last location as 6 days ago despite the phone having been used in the last 12 hours. Is there any way to track it? Thank you for any help.

Have you got it to make a noise via the find my phone bit? It’s the same area as where you tried to locate it on the iPad

Comefromaway · 29/06/2025 15:22

The person with the phone could have turned off location tracking. Or it could be somewhere where it can’t connect with gps or wifi.

phonehelppls · 29/06/2025 16:42

Thank you for the replies. Can it make a noise if it is off?

The tracking is set on a location 6 days ago despite the phone having travelled all over for the last 6 days. Can that be refreshed /reset in any way?

Is it out of battery or just off?

Comefromaway · 29/06/2025 17:42

is the phone lost, stolen or are you trying to find out where the person who has it is?

have you put a this phone is lost alert on it.

phonehelppls · 29/06/2025 18:06

yes tried everything on the instructions above thanks
unsure if lost or stolen as DC has no memory of the night
unsure if off or out of battery again as DC has no memory of either
no we havent put the lost alert on as hoping to get it back
We dont understand why the tracking hasnt updated in the last week
Thank you everyone. Reward offered for retrieval of phone

If you put the lost alert on then when someone turns the phone on it will flash a message up with your phone number & it will be locked.

Reasons why it might not have updated:

it’s not turned on
simeibe turned location services off
its in a dead gps area
someone has wiped it

phonehelppls · 01/07/2025 22:06

The tracking has come on. Yesterday it showed up at the place where it was lost. This morning it showed at a city 40 miles away and tonight is showing moving around our local city. This doesnt seem feasible as the phone is off if you try to ring it and why would someone travel around with it rather than wipe it/sell it on.

RubieChewsDay · 01/07/2025 22:08

You need to turn on the lost setting. It doesn’t wipe the phone but it will stop someone who has found it from using it and provide them with details of how to contact the person who has lost it.

RubieChewsDay · 01/07/2025 22:10

to be clearer when you activate the lost setting it asks you to input a number the person can call to let you know they have the phone.

phonehelppls · 01/07/2025 22:13

yes we activated the lost setting before the tracking started giving a phone number to phone. Also messaged saying reward offered but no idea if that is received.

Is it in a taxi? Down behind the seats.

Is it in a taxi? Down behind the seats.

I agree this is the most likely scenario…I assume when you say dc has no memory of the night that they were drunk?

phonehelppls · 02/07/2025 16:38

Yes drunk or other substance I guess! There would be no reason to get in a taxi but it isnt something we had considered however the phone is off when we ring it so would it not have to be turned back on to show location? thank you

Comefromaway · 02/07/2025 16:40

It might not be off, it might be in a dead area.

How do you do that out of interest?

GoFaster83 · 02/07/2025 16:47

Have you checked all local FB groups and local police? Sometimes people who find them turn them off because the alert sound is pretty loud and annoying! A lady accidentally swiped mine into her bag with her shopping at self serve checkout and it travelled quite far away as she got a taxi home. She panicked and turned it off, but her daughter turned it back on when she got home from work so the location updates worked again.

GoFaster83 · 02/07/2025 16:49

By the way, both bank cards were still in place and the £50 id hidden in the back were still there. There's more nice people out there than you think so it may well find its way back to you.

phonehelppls · 02/07/2025 18:07

yes that is what i thought that the location only updates again when the phone is turned on again which we presume is what has happened (several times) but if we ring it is turned off

YesThatsATurdOnTheRug · 02/07/2025 20:07

Have you been to where it's showing up?

phonehelppls · 02/07/2025 20:36

Not to the city where it showed the previous night but yes to the local area if showed up in after that and nothing.

Either you have another apple device like an iPad that your signed into with your apple account or you can put your phone a family group with another iPhone user in your family, then through the 'find my' app you can get to the device and enable lost mode, which enables you to lock it down, alert you when it's found and also put in a message and number for someone to contact you.
