If you have Netflix, have you seen 'The Four Seasons '?

Honeypleasedont · 29/06/2025 12:54

Ghosts. Start to finish straight through.

I've heard The Jinx is very good but I haven't got the right steaming service.

MeringueOutang · 29/06/2025 12:55

Penguin Town on Netflix! It's my happy place.

SparklyBrickViper · 29/06/2025 12:56

Say Nothing on Disney.

started it this weekend and it’s drawn me in.

I really enjoyed the one by Adam Curtis on the fall of the Soviet Union, it’s called Trauma Zone and it’s seven episodes long. Fascinating!

My Rembrandt, about people who own Rembrandts, and a Dutch art dealer trying to get a painting he bought at auction officially recognised as a Rembrandt. Lots of skullduggery, ghastly people, gorgeous paintings.

Horsepower — a four-parter behind the scenes at Kingclere racing stables, and their people, including Oisín Murphy, a jockey banned for cocaine use, and a groom who goes missing to try to find a twin he last saw in a refugee camp in Africa. Completely fascinating.

Almost all the Storyville documentaries on iPlayer are gripping. Subjects like lifers in San Quentin prison training and running for a marathon inside the prison, a particularly shocking instance of Japanese reality tv, Orthodox Jewish wedding nights, escaping North Korea, ‘happiness agents’ in Bhutan. Recent favourites are ‘The Gullspang Miracle’. My favourite ever one is ‘The Baby snd the Buddha’ about a monk’s search for the reincarnation of his dead lama master, but I don’t think that’s available now.

All the Levison Wood series, originally on C4. If you search 'Levison Wood Walking the.....' you'll find them, Himalayas, Americas, Nile etc. Endlessly fascinating.

I like exploring the BBC archive on iPlayer. There are some wonderful programmes on there and it’s interesting to see how we used to live, the attitudes and how things have changed or not.

kardashianklone · 29/06/2025 14:48

On Amazon Prime, two new short films just out this week. First is called ‘Wake Up’ written by boys at Feltham prison and the second is called ‘Anonymous’.

Weepixie · 29/06/2025 14:49

Almost all the Storyville documentaries

I have to agree and it’s just last week I was going to start a thread asking if anyone else watched them. They really are very special.

Titan about the submersible that failed going to the Titanic. An accident waiting to happen. That contraption was a death trap. So many missed opportunities.
