Dart Charge not coming up online? What do I do?

I did a return journey yesterday (tunnel then bridge). Went online yesterday evening to pay and there was only 1 crossing there to pay. So I paid £2.50. Still nothing online today. What do I do?

What time did you come back, as it's free between 10pm-6am.

If you email them, they are generally quite helpful.

Came back about 5 pm. Have messaged them. But I need to pay by midnight.🫤

It can take a day to update. Keep checking today and hopefully it will show up at some point.

My DD had the exact same thing a few weeks back. Tried calling - no answer tried paying- wasn’t working- emailed- no response. By the time she managed to contact them it was over the midnight thing and they said she had to pay the fine. She persisted saying this wasn’t fair and that it was their system that had gone down and they eventually relented and just let her pay the crossing fee.

Give them a call , I would say they are normally one of the most helpful places you can phone , open every day 0300 300 0120.

I shouldn't fret, they're usually really lovely!

Sometimes it takes a while to process, you'll be fine.

If there's any issues just ask them to help.

I completely forgot once, a s they were lovely and said "we can see you're not a regular user and this is the first time this has happened, we'll sort it out, just pay the £2.50".

Also, use this as an opportunity to register automatically paying, that's what I did and it's one less thing to think about.

I often pay in advance, and then occasionally don't use it. Just holds over to next time. So I would pay another 2.50 anyway and carry it forward to next time if it doesn't get used.

You've messaged them which is evidence you were trying. I would also take some pictures of the screen when you have tried to pay. I don't know what that looks like as I never drive that way, but it's what I always do with anything I might need to dispute later.

thelittleroo · 29/06/2025 10:12

I forgot to pay once (camping with no signal) - I'd always previously paid and they just wrote with a reference number and asked me to pay the £2.50 crossing fee within x number of days or I'd receive a fine.

Set up auto pay - so much easier.

Not worth it. Rarely go that way....maybe once or twice a year

Thought I'd update. Got an email from them saying I had only been logged once crossing. So somehow I drove over the bridge without being detected.

Even if you don’t cross very often I’d still recommend autopay. Then you’ll never have think about it again!

DeltaAlphaDelta79 · 30/06/2025 14:25

Oh well. At least you have it in writing.

We cross maybe twice a year and have it set up!

That's all we do. I think the very most we've ever done is... 4 in a year, usually it's 2.

You may as well, you don't have to pay for the account or anything and saves this stress!
