Vinted- low price and no reviews- scam?

Morning, my Vinted recommended list today is full of low price brand new designer items from sellers with no reviews. They all have other items to sell , not all new. If I was to purchase, surely if it was a scam and I didn’t receive the item I would get a refund and the seller wouldn’t get paid. So what would be the point of the scam? Thanks

Anyone? I’m tempted to buy something but terrified that the sellers may be able to access my bank or something. I just can’t see what the risk is to me as I’m assuming Vinted will have to refund me if I don’t receive the item?

I brought an item like this a while ago, not realising. I got refunded, it took a while because you have to give them time to send it, but I got a refund and no one accessed my bank account. I'm not sure what the point of the scam is to be honest. It's clear to me now which are the scam items, I'm surprised vinted hasn't taken them down. They're clogging up my recommended items feed 😂

It's entirely possible these are people harvesting people's information. If you purchase an item, the Seller will see your name and address. No they won't see banking details. I've never sold on Vinted, only bought. Can Sellers see a person's phone number? Personal details can be used for fraud, especially if that person has your phone number too. I would be very wary of purchasing supposedly designer items that are listed on new accounts with no reviews and cheap. As the saying goes 'if it looks too good to be true, then it probably is'. Keep well away.

It might not be scam, as it's quite difficult to actually lose your money as buyer on vinted but the items are probably fakes. They set up lots of different accounts as they get shut down so often.

The other scam could be they'll send you an entirely different item.

I'm always wary of accounts with no reviews but it's not always a scam.

Just gone back on Vinted and there are still loads of this type of seller on my recommended list! It’s so weird! I’ve tried to refresh a few times annd it’s the same. All of them are selling items around £7 ish l, all have lots of other items for sale (not all new either). It’s really really strange

List loads of items. People will buy them. Only a percentage of those people will follow up and request a refund if the item doesn’t arrive. The cheaper the item is the less likely people are to faff with the process of arguing for a refund through Vinted. Lots of people will miss the deadline to say everything is ok, especially if the seller sends something, anything, through the post. List new designer items, send old junk - get rid of your old junk, you will get to keep some of the money at least. Just claim a mix up with your parcels if challenged, then set up a new account.

It’ll be this time of year because lots of people are going on holiday so they will miss Vinted reporting deadlines for the payment protection.

Its not always a scam. IME the red flags are nonsense usernames (just random letters and numbers) and posting lots of items at identical prices or very random prices, like £9.76.
Just recently bought something from somebody with no reviews. But they had an actual username and several other things for sale at reasonable prices.
By the time they shipped they had several positive reviews posted.

IDontHateRainbows · 29/06/2025 16:29

Probably shoplifted

Chachacha2 · 30/06/2025 08:23

they are all still there this morning, and even more of them, and I’ve also noticed that some of them are the exact same item (same photos etc) from different ‘sellers’, again, no reviews and multiple items for sale.

I started a thread too about this very thing. No idea what the scam is as you're protected as a buyer.

Chachacha2 · 30/06/2025 16:01

It is really very strange!
