What's the adjoining room and are they windows or doors (to where)?

I might put the kitchen in the lower section (U shaped) and the dining room in the upper section if there's more natural light? I think the layout works well for a kitchen diner.

The adjoining room (pale yellow) is a lounge. Very thick sandstone wall in between. (Original back of house).

The larger area is 4x3.5m

i don’t have the measurements for the lower area but probably around 3 x 3.5m

what are the sizes? Of course you can, have the kitchen in either of the two bits and the dining in the other. The sizes would help see which one would work best.

xpost. Are the windows at a height that you could put units underneath? How wide is the gap between the door/opening to the brown bit and the wall of the living room (over or under 60cm)?

Hi-thank you. The windows are at of height where you could put units underneath them, yes. The area I have circled seems to be misrepresented on the floor plan as it is only about 15 cm!

The plumbing and drainage all runs down the far left that wall has a dog leg in it

Here. Version 1 is blue with kitchen around 2 walls of the second room. S = sink, h= hob, F=fridge. In the dining room, sb= side board for lots of storage

version 2 is green and adds doors to the garden and puts the kitchen around 3 sides of the space.
