My four and a half year old can’t keep still

I don’t know if it’s something to worry about or not, but it’s exhausting and constant wriggling, shuffling, fidgeting and scuffling. I’ve just had to tell him off as he kept knocking the woman next to us on a train.

He attends nursery and no concerns have been expressed but I don’t know, just mindful he’s starting school soon.

Most (all) 4 year olds would have difficulty sitting still for long. I doubt there’s anything to worry about.

What you describe may be part of normal child development. He may just need to be outside to run and jump etc and have physical exercise daily. Some children do.

As the nursery have not raised any concerns I would not worry or try to get him to sit still.

School has play times.

It’s at all though, even when we’re reading a story he’s endlessly moving. So I do worry about this. Hoping it’s normal but it’s exhausting.

Normal in my experience. Is he doing an enough activities and getting enough exercise?

I’d say so but never makes any difference.

Try not to worry. Next time you’re in a park watch the other children, they’re all nuts. A random thing but when the Sims updated their game to include children they made them all fidget pots. Like the adult characters will go about life in the usual game character way, whereas the children are constantly doing something. Because children usually do fidget about!
