Paying to read the news online

The reason I joined msnet was the online paper I read slowly started blocking articles and I wanted something to read. So I moved over and far more enjoyed a good CF or parking post.

But I do miss a scroll through the headlines and being able to click and read some of the articles and stories that catch my interest. Don’t hate me but I enjoyed the layout of the Daily Mail online (mainly because I found the big headings easy to read and I like the pictures).

wonderimg if it’s worth paying to read. As a kid I used to pay my parents pay Bill on a Sunday and it scarred me for life. I’be rarely bought a newspaper always used the library and more recently PressReader, however pretty much all of the magazines and newspapers, et cetera. I read online in PressReader are now on the pay option.

Is there anywhere I can get a free read online these days?

Just paste any link into https://archive.ph/ amd you can read paid articles. Easy.

There's the Guardian... there's news sites like Sky but most things seem to be behind pay walls.

Following with interest, hopefully other MNers will have some tips and tricks.

I refuse to pay for any of this stuff that used to be free.

Actual newspapers (made of paper) were never free! The good ones, at least.

The Guardian is probably the best bet for reading online, although you have to register I believe. But even they have to cover their costs. Their staff don't work for free.
