So. What was with rube yesterday? Knick, steel and whatever the other one was all worked as homonyms for stealing something, but rube?

I googled rabe, and it’s a vegetable.

Wtf it’s a homophone for, I have no idea.

I think it was meant to sound like "rob". I tried it in several different accents but couldn't make it work!

No, definitely not "rayb" at all over here (in Canada.) It's pronounced more like rahb, which does sound very similar to how many North Americans would say rob.
