Has anyone had lowlights put into overly highlighted hair?

If so, would you show a few photos pls. I’m so fed up of my bright blonde colour and want to get back to something a bit more natural. Terrified of it going wrong though! What should I ask the hairdresser for? This is me now (photo 1…it doesn’t look too blonde here but it is in in real life)and second photo is how my highlights were after one/two rounds.. I’d like to go back to this ultimately..

Yes, many times. I've been highlighting my hair for 30 years and sometimes it gets a bit too blonde, so I need to have some honey colour ones put through the blonde to tone it down. It's never been an issue. My stylist is very good though and I trust her implicitly.

Thank you @cheezncrackers!! That’s reassuring. I keep reading that it might go green!!

It shouldn't if you get a proper, qualified stylist to do it. If you bung a box colour on top of your highlights then yes, that could happen.

Yes, I have, and mine didn’t work out. For a start, my hair was so bleached out, and the lowlights went green. I tried several different hairdressers and they went green each time. In the end I got it transitioned into a balayage by having root highlights in a kind of balayage style. That’s probably the easiest way of doing it.

Thanks @LeaveALittleNote! That sounds like an option. Have you got a root balayage photo by any chance (even one of a model). I feel so clueless! Also I’ve had hair disasters before..!!
