Anyone been on a Norwegian fjord cruise?

We are first time cruisers and this is our honeymoon/first wedding anniversary so want to have a great time. The route is Olden, Flam, Bergen, Ulvik.
We chose not to book excursions through the cruise company as they seemed much more expensive then booking directly. So far, dh is booked onto kayaking and we have both booked lunch at a beautiful restaurant on top of a mountain in Bergen. We also intend going on the circular railway in Flam.
Has anyone been on a similar holiday and could share any tips? I know cruises can be a MN pet hate, but we are so excited!

You need to book the Flam train asap and possibly through the cruise company. The cruises basically book out the train and if there’s more than one ship in that day, your chances are otherwise low! It is beautiful though!

Agree with Loen skylift, there’s also a lovely glacier to hike to from a restaurant in Olden.

Make sure you’re aiming to get back to the ship 1 hour/45 mins before the departure time. You don’t want to be the people having their names yelled out of the tannoy and I’ve watched a ship sailing away as a taxi with 4 passengers turned up, just in time to watch it leave, with all their luggage- they genuinely don’t wait- think they got a flight to the next port!
