I am guilty of using it often, It drops in more conversations than I’d like.
So, in your opinion, is it?

Obviously, it’s not scandalous to say like some words (was it ever?) but with language I think it’s best to err on the side of caution, e.g. if you wouldn’t say it in front of a priest or a teacher, then it’s a swear word. I’m Irish and use the same logic for ‘feck’ 😆

TokyoSushi · 19/06/2025 22:27

A very minor one, but yes I’d say!

JabbaTheBeachHut · 19/06/2025 22:27

Well I wouldn't say it in a job interview.

I find that's a handy way to gauge these things 😁

ScottBakula · 19/06/2025 22:29

It's certainly on the lower end of the scale but like pp there are plenty of times that I wouldn't say it.

GarlicMile · 19/06/2025 22:30

I'm still whimsically fond of bloodybuggeringbollocks, shittingfuckinghell 😂 It's a very teenage expletive, but immensely satisfying when something keeps going wrong.

NuffSaidSam · 19/06/2025 22:32

It's a very minor one, but I wouldn't want my kids to say it/a teacher to say it to my kids, for example.

HowDairy · 20/06/2025 06:45

Ok, got it!

Don’t say in front of priest, teacher or in a job interview, but use @GarlicMile
“bloodybuggeringbollocks, shittingfuckinghell” in those instances, right? 😆

That’s my gauge too. V mild but don’t say it in an interview.

I remember as a child
bloody in the bible
bloody in the book
if you don’t bloody believe me
have a bloody look

HowDairy · 20/06/2025 11:58

@Guiltypleasures001 So does that mean it’s ok? 😄

Guiltypleasures001 · 20/06/2025 13:35

Don’t quote me 😬😁

Empress13 · 20/06/2025 13:36

Depends where you’re saying it ! To friends not so much but to strangers no

Dontlletmedownbruce · 20/06/2025 13:38

I was a little embarrassed recently when my 10yr old did an improv on stage before an adult audience during a drama school production and exclaimed 'bloody hell'. He was one of the oldest kids on the stage and doing a lead role. It sounded inappropriate and sweary in that context.
