ok I know this might sound a bit crazy but other things have been happening lately so I'm just feeling a bit unnerved because of the time.

I live in a first floor flat, my own front door, Just heard a few noises coming from outside my front door so I went and stood at the top of my stairs (stairs directly behind my front door leading up to my flat) and someone had their fingers sticking through my letterbox looking through.

I was in the dark so they wouldn't have seen me. I waited until I heard them leave then looked properly and all that was there was a take away menu, i have no idea if it was there earlier and I'm only seeing it now, all i saw was fingers and eyes.

I live alone and am a bit jittery.

if they did post the take away menu has anyone ever known them to do it at midnight and do they usually look through the bloody letterbox?!

Could it have someone drunk messing about?
You're behind a locked door you'll be fine.

AllFours · 19/06/2025 01:19

Well that’s creepy!

That's really unsettling, but as pp said, you're behind a locked door, whoever it is has gone and you're safe. Have you anyone you can call to chat to if you need?

What on earth does that mean? Likely just to freak poor op out even more!

The person is spamming across a number of threads. Clearly a child - should be asleep

Strangecat · 19/06/2025 01:59

I would call the police to be honest. I had once the neighbour (didn’t know it was him) standing right outside my door (glass door) very close and not moving or saying anything. I asked who is it? he wouldn’t answer. I was so freaked out, I rang the police. My kids were asleep upstairs. anyway, they came, and it was just the neighbour, very very drunk! who thought it was his door. Still very odd behaviour!
call the police and explain what just happened and see what they say.

Lindajonesjustcantlivemylife · 19/06/2025 02:16

Hopefully op is fast asleep

Imanonymoushere · 19/06/2025 02:16

Well this is potentially very serious .

Not wishing to alarm OP but malicious fire raising is often done at night and by putting things through letter boxes.

I would seriously consider phoning the police if I saw someone's hand through my door in the middle of the night.

I’ve been woken at 5.30an by a takeaway leaflet a few time. I just assume they are fitting it around a normal job. Plus with the weather yesterday would you have been wanting to be walking around a couple of hours earlier in the day?
