How much tip would you leave cleaners in hotel in Spain?

Staying in small hotel near Madrid for five nights. Staff cleaning room daily. I’m pretty neat so making the bed and replenishing any coffee satchet and occasional towels. Was thinking of leaving a 20 euro tip. Is that about right?

I've never even thought to do that in Europe. I don't think it's a common thing in Spain/Europe. In America, I leave $4-5 a day and it's best to do it daily as different cleaners might do different days.

PoliteBee · 18/06/2025 18:43

No tip required or expected.

ArghhWhatNext · 18/06/2025 18:44

I’ve never done that in Europe

We leave all our change and maybe some small value notes if I don't have much.

Nichebitch · 18/06/2025 18:51

I’m Spanish and never have given any tips in hotels - although I’m sure they’ll appreciate it

upandleftthenright · 18/06/2025 18:52

Oh wow. I always leave a tip for cleaning when on holiday. Always thought it was the done thing.

😮it's not even common in America to tip that much and they're the masters of tipping.

It's not common in Europe.

vincettenoir · 18/06/2025 18:55

I usually leave €10 or a bit more, depending on what I have left over and don’t need for the airport.

Ilovegoldies · 18/06/2025 18:57

I left 10 euros. Its not expected but their pay is piss poor.

troppibambini6 · 18/06/2025 19:26

We usually leave about €20 for a week so yes that sounds about right. We travel a lot and always do it.

elQuintoConyo · 18/06/2025 22:10

I was joking about the €50.

€100 better.

I still jest.

It's not common to tip, not in Spain anyway.

Picklechicken · 18/06/2025 22:16

Totally not the norm to do this. The only place it’s ever really expected is in the USA or on certain cruise ships. (Some cruise ships have tips included but many choose to still leave a tip or some nice chocolates etc).

Vargas · 18/06/2025 22:17

I would leave 20 euro for a week. DH disagrees with tipping so i don’t tell him.

Oneearringlost · 18/06/2025 22:19

I think that sounds about right.

Don't do what I did though, in Bali, 1st night, I thought I'd left the equivalent of about £10; it turned out to be £450!

Blobbitymacblob · 18/06/2025 22:21

I leave €10 for a stay of up to a week. I’ve never stayed longer than a week, but maybe €20 for two.

Also surprised this isn’t considered normal.
