My 4 year old DC and I were in ‘gnome bargains’ today just looking at the toys aisle. Then suddenly this shouting started by a man on the phone. It was ramping up and up
and basically this man was shouting about his kids and that the person on the phone had no right to tell him he wasn’t looking after his kids properly. He kept shouting you fucking ugly fat cunt over and over again and how he is going to punch his face in. It was going on for 5 minutes.

Luckily my DC was engrossed in looking at the toys and thankfully didn’t notice it at all.
But Christ on a bike, why are some people like this? He could see there were children around but just kept going regardless. It rattled me.

what the 4 year old calls it

Thought that was pretty obvious!

Did any staff member approach him? Unless I was shop manager I'd steer well clear

I said this to my DH the other day, everyone is in their own little world these days. No consideration or thought to anyone else. No one cares anymore.

SoScarletItWas · 16/06/2025 21:27

Why are there so many threads about people yelling cunt in public? This must be the fourth in a couple of days. Is there a sudden epidemic of classlessness or do we have a new poo troll??!

It's so selfish isn't it!
Even years before I became a parent, I was very aware of not being an arsehole in front of children. I won't cross an empty road until the green man shows if their are children around. In the days when I smoked, I'd cross if practically hide in a bush with my cigarette behind my back if a family were walking past. As a teenager I'd tell my friends off for being too "teenage" (we weren't even that bad, certainly not by today's standards!) in front of kids or elderly people. Why is it so hard for so many to show even an ounce of respect?!
There is a man who rents one of the garages outside our flat and seems to spend half his life standing around outside it swearing down the phone. I really want to say something, but I just have a feeling that he's the type to them ramp it up whenever he sees us to make a point if I do. (I just tell my son that he's not very nice to talk to people that way and that he must not have any friends because he's always being mean!)

A member of staff walked by whilst sweary man was in full swing. I don’t blame him for not saying anything, I expect they are told not to intervene in situations like this.

I think the notion of respect for others has gone in many people these days.
One thing I do wonder is if sweary man is like this in public what on earth is he like in private 🤔
Similar to you I wanted to say something but wouldn’t even on my own let alone with DC.

Can we derail this thread for utterly cute things kids say ? Especially if they carry into family traditions. Surely we all need some joy in life ?
