What is this slow-burner of a virus?

I’ve been ill-ish for a week - totally exhausted, achey, headache, swollen glands. But it’s not emerged into full-on illness with other symptoms but nor am I getting any better, if anything I feel worse. Definitely feels viral.

I feel a bit of a fraud as I’m not coughing or sneezing or being sick but I just feel totally rubbish.

Anyone else had similar?

I had a random upset stomach for three weeks every morning as well as similar symptoms to you nothing threw the day just every morning boom upset then fine 😬 it passed thankfully

Same here. Feeling achey and lethargic. A bit of a cough but hasn’t developed like a cold normally would. Going to have an early night as feel drained.

I’m 4th week and have been left with a horrendous cough and bad chest and viral lethargy.

Oof three weeks of it? Gosh that sounds miserable.

I’m also feeling queasy/lost appetite but again it’s not amounted to anything other than feeling a bit rubbish

oh crikey four weeks? It’s getting worse, I’m starting to regret asking!

Sorry you’ve had this! Did you do a covid test at any point?

There is a covid variant going around in Europe and the UK apparently - my husband has it now and 5 others I know in the last week. Diarrhea, extreme fatigue, swollen glands etc.

2025mustbebetter · 16/06/2025 21:28

I w as gonna suggest Covid too. Quite a few people I know have been ill and unable to do very much but no specific symptoms and a couple of them tested positive for Covid (the rest didn't test!)

I was thinking covid as I have got a particularly peculiar headache I’ve only had before with covid but I tested negative. Perhaps the test can’t be trusted?

I think I have had this recently . A week of total exhaustion. Falling asleep , aching all over, sore throat intermittently. Just feeling really woozy and odd and my balance has been off.

Jollyjoy · 16/06/2025 21:31

I had a mystery virus a few weeks back that lasted weeks and it was various waves. First week tonsillitis, white on tonsils but not too severe. Started to recover then was hit with high fever for 2 days and the worst swollen glands, they ached and it hurt to lie on them. Totally exhausted. That part lasted over a week. I wondered if it was covid due to the fever, but I recovered for 7-10 days then got what felt like a notmal cold, but I lost smell, so assumed the second illness was covid rather than the first. Interesting others mention the swollen glands though.

ButteredRadish · 16/06/2025 22:18

Yes my mum and my 10yr old DD each have it. DD’s main issue is the sore throat and feeling cold

Thinlyveiled · 16/06/2025 22:46

Oh God yes, the feeling cold. When it started I went to bed with a hot water bottle.

mindingmyown37 · 16/06/2025 22:50

Yep dd12 had this just before May half term, started with a really bad headache, then felt rubbish for a few days, lost her voice, cold symptoms etc. I then got it the day we went on holiday, luckily only felt super rubbish for 2 days and then the next 3 were mild cold symptoms, had the feeling cold and shivering, woke up in a hot sweat the 2nd night was fine by the morning, was like a 24 hour fever . My mum, sister and DS also all had this. The only person who didn’t get it was DP.

schooloflostsocks · 17/06/2025 07:33

Yep I've had this. 4 days of sleeping in the day, raised glands, aching, no other symptoms
