Why do people have to conduct mega loud conversations on speakerphone on the bus?

Just that really, I have music quite loud on my headphones and can still hear them, just don't understand why it's necessary

In a supermarket recently, a bloke was having a very loud phone conversation that sounded as though it was work related. As is the way of these things, every time I turned into an aisle, there he was, loudly declaiming. I hope there was nothing confidential.
