Highlights help..any hairdressers around?

I’m so fed up of my hair at the moment..it’s naturally dark but five years of highlightIng has made it a mass of blonde with really dark roots (photo 1..although it doesn’t look to bad in the photo…this is week 4). I haven’t had a full head for ages so it’s also very dark underneath the blonde.

I saw a lovely new hairdresser today who said she can get it back more to how it was when I started having highlights (photo 2)…more like caramel.

I asked a hairdresser last year to make it slightly darker and was disappointed with the result. She alternated dark and light colours (can’t remember the ratio…maybe 2;1) and the result was a very flat, dull dark blonde..my little boy said it looked grey!

My new hairdresser seems great but is also very young and I’m terrified of a hair disaster. She was also talking about alternating light and dark and then a toner to make the blonde darker…

In an ideal world, I’d love a balayage kind of look..dark at the top with bits of colour running through the ends…

thank you! ; )
