Trooping the Colour 2025

Ever since Queen Elizabeth died I have become less and less interested in the royal family and did not watch Trooping the the colour because they were lonely go on and on about Kate's outfit and how much it costs which I think is very vulgar. As for Charles I have never liked him or camilla either

I noticed the dirty gloves too!

I thought Kate’s outfit was dated but not as badly as Charlotte’s, which was dismally old-lady and faded looking. Though I am sure it cost an arm and a leg.

Icing Catherine needs a haircut it's far too long and looks worse when she curls it and sometimes it looks so dry and brittle

I have never watched it. It holds its importance for a lot of people though so let them get on with it. I quite liked Kate’s dress (seen in the news), thought the colour was lovely but then I’m not up on fashion and like colours more than styles.

PerkyOchrePeer · 15/06/2025 01:31

Over the years i have seen catherine look nice but her hair is much too long now and thick and badly needs cutting and she choulf moy keep having it curled which only emphasises it. My hair is thick but i have ot in a bob just above my shoulders. Very long almost waist length hair is not attractive

Same I used to love watching all those sorts of things but I have completely lost interest since the queen died.

I am totally the opposite. I much prefer the King and have more interest in the Royal Family now.

I agree. There is much to admire the Old Queen for, but she really had the family stuck in a 1950s/1960s bubble.

SummerEve · 15/06/2025 10:18

@Rhaidimiddim you are so right. The RF had become stale, out of touch and looked increasingly awkward in the 2020’s. Charles just ‘gets it’ and it’s so refreshing.

@Bigbadmama I agree. The BBC coverage was interesting and informative. As you say, little about the Royal Family, the focus was on the regiment and the actual trooping. I liked the details about the horse and was amazed that the officer in charge had only just learned to ride a horse! The horses were lovely and so well trained.

That sounds interesting, I will see if it's on iplayer.

I was vaguely aware it was on, but only a bit of background 'noise'.

When the King had his coronation I didn't like the version and compared it to the Queen's coronation and I thought that was much better. I love history and think that sometimes seems that were done many years ago I enjoy better than the modern. What I did disagree about the late Queen was the fact that wherever she went she always wore gloves. Not necessary.

Cuts down infections, especially when you're shaking hands with dozens of people

Yes but Catherine doesn't wear gloves and neither did Princess Diana

No, but they must have thought it was old-fashioned, which it is, but it's also practical.

Furthermore Queen Elizabeth always had a handbag over her arm she never had a shoulder bag and whoever uses a handbag over the arm in this day and age

Plenty of women. Have you not seen them on sale? Not everyone can afford an Hermes Birkin, but there are loads of other styles.

I do try to but when you turn on your computer or your mobile and it's on the home screen with a photo of Catherine in her outfit in its hard not to look

You seem to be looking for petty reasons to have a go at the royal family, Kate's hair (which always looks amazing), Zara not being at Trooping the Colour etc. You say you're interested in history so why not watch the ceremony to see why it's of significance.

But honestly, criticising the late Queen for carrying a handbag 😁, come on now - you're obviously not au fait with fashion trends........

How bizarre to start a thread about a family you have no interest in and complain about seeing pictures of them when you switch on your computer, yet you watched the coronation of King Charles and compared it unfavourably to the late Queens, complain about Kate’s hair length and condition, and complain about the Queen’s handbags and gloves! If people hold no interest to you why would you waste your time posting about them, bizarre! Just change your settings and the site of Kate’s dry and brittle hair won’t stress you out so much.

I think your machine mis-heard you and 'they were lonely go on' was meant to be 'they will only go on'. I don't know how many stations showed the Trooping but on the BBC I didn't hear Clare Balding talk about the cost of Kate's outfit at all. Some other stations or newspapers might have vulgarly chewed over the price.
You wanted to tell the world that you don't like Charles or Camilla and now you have. Congratulations. Are there any other people you'd like to slate on another thread?
As you didn't watch it you missed the young man with the strong right arm holding the colour(flag), and those lovely brown and white drum horses.
